I revisited After Midnight set at the gym over my headphones. What a tremendous smokin hot show( I hadn't gone back to that one in a while).
Yeah, I liked that. It also would have been nice to hear a little more about the musical differences between Jerry's band and Bob's band. There was a great interview in The Golden Road back in the day where Kemper talks about playing "with one foot on the gas and one foot on the brake" when he played with Jerry because it was such a challenge to play at such slow tempos.
Most of the words are wrong, but this may be my favorite version of this tune: More and more I think the Garcia/Grisman material was his best work c. 87-95
All the Garcia/Grisman albums are high quality. You can find further live stuff in Youtube and I think this pro shot show should get an official release. It is pretty great. Here:
Just saw the Drive-By Truckers at GAMH last week (great show), and now have tickets for Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks at Slim's this summer, so the bookings are indeed drawing me back in...
Just had an email from Jerry’s store saying my download for the new Garcia Live is ready. Nice surprise for a Wednesday morning!
So trying to download it is impossible. Pressing either the zip file or download manager button does nothing. Not sure if the sites broken or the download actually isn’t available yet
now streaming on google play: Side Trips: Volume One (Live) Jerry Garcia & Howard Wales Side Trips, Volume One is a jazz-rock fusion album by Howard Wales and Jerry Garcia. It was recorded live at the Matrix in San Francisco in 1970, and released in 1998.
None. The "Side Trips" series began and ended with this release, even though there were various other one-off Jerry solo live releases that might have qualified. EDIT: If you meant "How much more material is in the vault", I have no idea.
I got mine too. I went with the cheap shipping option so won't get it until at least a week after release, apparently. What were the shipping options up there to Norway?
