Sort of, it was a subset of Grisman's band. The Garcia/Grisman shows were with Jim Kerwin (bass) and Joe Craven (percussion) from the David Grisman Quintet. Grisman's other band members at the time were Enrique Coria (guitar) and Matt Eakle (flute).

I was there! Very windy day! Very trippy experience taking the gondola up to the concert area. I guess around 10-12 people at a time is all that could go in one of those things. The JGB electric show the prior evening was also quite enjoyable.
Listening to Garcia for the very first time today actually, some good stuff on here. I recognize some of this stuff from the PERRO sessions with Crosby, etc.
That was 8-24-91 (the electric, I mean?) That was the first JGB show I heard, it was on the radio. They kept calling it a 'warm' show (as opposed to hot.)

Yep, that be the one. 8/24 electric show, at night time. 8/25, acoustic with Grisman, mid-day. Great weekend. I haven't heard it in a long time, not sure if I even have it.... we were not very "warm" up there, despite the season! We were, after all, at the top of a big ski slope!

New Garcia Live 10 is a gem. Moving my way through disc 1 and JG is on, playing crisply and focused. Melvin also gets big kudos for his work thus far. If you are on the fence....do it. Beautiful show.

Thanks. I was just listening to the release from 1991 the other day and loving it, and thinking (as I usually do) that I should just buy anything from the Melvin era that they release. I love pretty much all of it.
