Only after a life of service, humility and selfless devotion will thy karma be put back in balance. The universe tilted your way in a major way on that day. Ying and Yang, bro. That's all I'm saying...

I had got 2 sets for the price of 1.

  10. It probably won't work as part of the Dave's Picks project because of the length of the shows, but it would make a great standalone 4 disc set. The electric sets aren't well covered by the Dead Set release and its reissue, a full show exactly as it happened is long overdue.

I know someone that happened too, also. I don't think he's dared remove the shrink wrap to this day...

Dave's 27/28 Guess: 10/15/76 and 9/2/78. No basis for guess other than I'm betting both were in batch of recently returned tapes and are highly regarded shows. I know Dick raved about 9/2/78 Scarlet>Fire....Think i've listened and wasn't blown away but perhaps it deserves another listen.

It's a great one but I remember Weir being out of tune on it.

Totally agree. While it would have great to have seen live if I want to listen to a scarlet fire, it’s Cornell. There just is no substitute IMO.

That 2-5-78 truly is epic. Definitely in the handful of the best Scarlet>Fire’s. Jerry and Keith are both particularly on fire.

If I had 20 minutes to explain the Grateful Dead to someone, I would play the 2/5/78 S/F

Very true, that is a great Scarlet>Fire...not Cornell but great. I'll give another listen though. I also like 5/21 Lakeland, FL version...so, I guess I do like other versions...how 'bout that.

Ya know, my problem w the Cornell Scarlet>Fire is that during the transition, Keith's playing gets mechanical, like he's phoning it in.

I'd go with the 4/24/72 Dark Star--> Uncle--> Dark Star. If it's too inaccessible, then hard cheese.
