That's a little harsh....perhaps even presumptuous...and I don't think it has anything to do with the Dead, I would imagine most people don't buy CDs due to the packaging...

I really hope there are some of these left in early 2019. In flux right now since I don't know where I'll be living or working in a few months so I can't order one. Looks like such great set!

Crazy how there are still July 1978 and Get Shown the Light (all music) box sets available. Hope this one follows suit since there are 15,000.

I will probably be changing it back. I would rather look at Lene anyway.

Considering cancelling my Portland vinyl and scooping up the July '78 set since I also ordered the PNW 19 CD Box.

    I would say that's a wise choice.

Someone on Ebay bought the PNW Bento Box for $299.00.

They got free shipping though... so they got that going for them.

Someone else bought the July 78 box for $250.00. Probably the same dude.

Question about the Portland 5/19/74 vinyl offering.

Do you think this will be made from the same master used for the CD? If so, what's the point of owning this in the LP format?

  18. Well somee feel cd us s better format for long Dead sets and I totally get that. I love both.

But a vinyl cut will always sound different and frequently better. IMHO

Yes, I'm one of those that feel that the LP format ruins the flow of a good Dead show, regardless of any perceived sonic differences.

I’m sure this is addressed a million times on this site, but how could the vinyl cut of Hi-Res files improve those files? Wouldn’t the files themselves (which you can buy) always sound better/be more accurate? I guess if one has a super hi end vinyl setup but not much of a digital setup...

I bought the July 78 box on ebay yesterday, but for $150. I had a copy a year ago and sold it...instant regret. So ebay had the best price for new set.

Also bought Shown the Light box and ordered the new 19 disc set.

    Help. Me.

Dead n00b here...what makes the July '78 set such a no-brainer? My live Dead collection so far only consists of:

    Live Dead
    Grateful Dead (Skull & Roses)
    Europe '72 (parts 1 & 2)
    Steal Your Face
    Get Shown The Light
    Movie Soundtrack
    Family Dog @ Great Highway
    RFK '89

Great shows, great sound and great packaging. It’s a value for what it is.

With your list, it would fill that ‘78 hole nicely until the April ‘78 box sees the light of day.

$150 isn’t bad, but isn’t the all inclusive price at Dead.Net lower?
