In fact, he doesn't, as that was Keith on bass.

Even on the outtakes from Quadrophenia, Entwistle's playing is phenomenal.

No biggie. I was pretty gobsmacked, too, when I learned it was Keith.

It's still a great bass line!

    Airbag (Radiohead)

    Ex-Cowboy
    (Mogwai)

Both great, but pretty different from each other. The Airbag bass line is at times very halting, moving in fits and starts, and in other parts propulsive. If you heard the basic song without it, and imagined a bass line, it would be the last thing anyone would think of. But it makes the song (along with the drums), and lifts it to another plane, into space. The bass on Ex-Cowboy is just locked in, insistent and totally hypnotic, building up intensity with the rest of the song.

Actually, an honourable mention must go to Jane's Addiction bassist Eric Avery, since just about every one of that great band's (original lineup) songs was obviously built from his bass lines out. Ted, Just Admit It is a great example of his classic work, hypnotic and melodic at the same time.

Have you watched Rock n Roll Circus? Should be no surprises about Keef playing great bass. Keef grooves big time as bass player for The Dirty Mac. Nice threads, too!

Keef and Ronnie are both way better than Bill IMHO. I'd love to see mick Taylor back on guitar, and move Ronnie to bass.

You could probably add every other song from Live At Leeds in Entwistle's case!
