I think I've seen 13 Assassins, but I can't remember it. Only other Miike film I've enjoyed, or rather endured, was Audition.
I vaguely remember liking that but didn't know that was Miike. I did see Ichi the Killer and eh, I don't know what the big deal about it is. Maybe it was a big deal in 2001 for gore. I haven't had a chance to listen to my four 2017's yet but since you mention Beherit this was another on my list. There are eight actually but I didn't want to look nuts. I do like that the eight cover the gamut from beastly to brainy.
The bottom of the toilet brings me to one of my eight which is well back in the cave. Damn it you have me tossing down my cards before I've fully absorbed them but I have been in possession of this for two weeks. I just can't make up my mind on it. Certainly the first song is cool. After that... I saw some Metal porn on FB that immediately appealed to me. One very sweet label and the Zombi 2 poster. Hmmm, Canada in Mexican is Canada as is Halifax. Nova and Scotia get translated but not crust. I need schoolin'. From Monarque: "For the dévots of Quebec, there will be copies of black lilies available at Le Knock-Out on Friday, January 26th!" Napalm Raid added a new photo. Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico - Thursday, February 15, 2018
I have enjoyed EVERY Miike film I've seen, which has been pretty much everything available in North America.
Yeah, HUGE Miike fan here! I also like everything I've seen including Dead Or Alive, Deadly Outlaw: Rekka, Visitor Q, etc. I even dig the MPD Psycho series... that was sooooo dope! Did you hear about the 4K remaster of Ichi The Killer? The Blu-ray is supposed to be coming out in March. I can't wait!!!!! Well Go USA Acquire New 4K Restoration of Takashi Miike's Ichi the Killer
I'm listening to this album. I love when an album is a slam dunk and it's also easy when I don't like it but I'm annoyed when I'm stuck in the middle between the two. There's a fair amount of heroism in it as in viking Bathory, which has always struck me as a little silly. Though I grin at the idea of marching valiantly to the corner store to buy milk. I keeping hanging in with the album because when the lead guitar steps forward it is super. 4:51 and 10:35 are two examples. I'll just have to see if the whole thing grows on me. Damn that lead! Why is there a Ring Wraith on the cover?
Cult of E was a fav for sure. The 2015 Malokarpatan album blew my mind and maybe I had too high expectations but I felt a little disappointed last year. Wampyrinacht I don't know but the cover looks familiar or maybe there was something similar. Anyway, yeah, sounds good so far. Again with the guitar 4:48.
After swimming through the Sea of Mediocrity that is clicking on youtube links I must have lost consciousness. I found myself washed up on this beach. I was really hoping to be drawn and quartered by monosyllabic savages, as it's been awhile, but instead I was slowly massaged to a pulp by these more refined brutes and their appreciation of epic scale. Picked up the latest Decibel, with Tribulation on the cover, and it's got an article on 2018 releases. Really looking fwd to new ones from: Hate Eternal Khemmis Behemoth Yob Carcass Oh and a new one from Mike's fave band Horrendous!
Yes! And I think this is the week for Hooded Menace and Tribulation which has a 4.5/5 review at Angry Metal Guy. Horrendous! It's as if they were custom made for my taste the way they merge Death with good old Hard Rock. 3:47 it's 1977 Alex Lifeson!!! Before the creation of this thread of straight devotion and extreme metal was met mostly by crickets in the Official Hard/Metal thread (crickets because those guys are cool and respectful gents), for the benefit of others I asked Horrendous about their vocals and received a lengthy reply. February 2016 "Thanks for the kind words! I don't necessarily think growls are better than clean vocals - I think it's a context-dependent thing. If we could somehow find a really good clean singer (these seem to be hard to come by these days - most of them are pretty campy in my opinion), I think we might have considered trying it out at some point. But we did start off shooting for a death/thrash sound back in 2009, so we went with rougher vocals. Most of the metal I listen to is older, in the vein of more traditional heavy metal and thrash, so I do generally prefer the types of bands that use cleaner vocals. But I think we would end up having a strong modern power metal vibe to our sound if we were to use a contemporary clean metal vocalist, which is definitely not something we want. Anyway, I would say our rougher vocals complement and blend in with the overall atmosphere and tone of the music, whereas clean vocals would probably distract somewhat (by design). In our case, we believe that the music is most important, with our vocals serving as yet another component of the greater sound - they aren't necessarily intended to be at the forefront. But that's just my opinion." Last November I asked them "The burning question is is there an estimated time of arrival for a next album? Crossing fingers!" and got this back "Haha thanks! Next album will probably be Spring 2018 if everything goes smoothly."
Oh you've scratched a terrible itch I was having with that! I'm in. I was trying to make do with this but I like Mork more. You beat me to it! That was my first thought also. I'll have to look for that outlawed episode where the abomination Andrew 'Squiggy' Squiggman was conceived. Happy Days indeed!
