Hmmm ... not familiar with "Amityville". Dude, there's great threads
here that rise to the surface this time of year called,

"What Is the Scariest/Creepyist Music You've Heard?" and
"Albums That Make You Scared to Close Your Eyes" ( Click 'em )

On top of that, I can recommend a few LPs that can scratch that itch:

"Themes from Classic Science Fiction, Horror and Fantasy Films"
    "These Ghoulish Things"
"It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" and
    "Sci-Fi Channel's: The Dark Side"

Among those four are very familiar themes that are indispensable.

Among the widely available soundtracks such as "Rosemary's Baby",
"The Shining" and "Psycho", there are specialty publishers of lesser-
known soundtracks that press limited runs of niche films. One among
those is Howlin' Wolf Records, which released the excellent CD,

    "Silent Night, Bloody Night"

soundtrack around 2013 or so. Check 'em out.

Oh, while I'm at it ... not Halloween but WONDERFUL atmosphere
and several within that hint at Halloween mightily. She even was under
the tutorship of Bert Jansch for a spell. Check her out, AWESOME CD.
    "Courting Autumn". This tune fits:

Thanks and no prob ... if you enjoy REALLY creepy fare,
I recommend "Absinthe" by Naked City. Usually John Zorn
is loud ... VERY loud ... not here. A fair sequel to Pink Floyd's
"Ummagumma" in a way. Jeff just posted it. AWESOME.

There's no limit here. TONS of fun and creepy things for everyone.

My go-to is that "Themes" CD at the top of my list. It WILL scare
little kids though. These re-recordings of old movie themes are
faithful and to me, pack more punch than the originals. Dick Jacobs
    was a great arranger.

So, my tastes range from this:

"Scooby Doo, Where are you!" Theme Song (1969)

    to this:

    What's He Building?

    Enjoy! I think.

the Misfits have many good ones that could fit this, a few come to mind, aside from a very obvious choice with their song "Halloween" others could be Vampira, Ghouls Night Out, Theme For A Jackal, and there are others, some more lyrically tame/less gruesome then others (as the are some of the few I listed), in any case they got stuff that will work good.

Edit: The Cramps have some great songs for this too.
