Hard to believe but Linda Ronstadt (You're No Good) is 57 years old today
Hope she has a happy birthday!
    Cheers!

Seems just like yesterday that I watched her in her Boy Scout uniform, with my binoculars from the third row. Does that sound as bad as it reads?

Linda was an early crush for me, which means I'm getting pretty old too, I guess.

A great singer in many different styles of music. I was a bit surprised and sorry to read awhile ago in Goldmine that she dislikes pretty much all of her hit recordings.

I was like 5 years old and I thought she was the hottest thing going. Pat Benatar, Donna Summer, and Linda were my first crushes.

Who remembers Sweet Linda on The Muppet Show, singing "Blue Bayou" with a chorus of frogs ribbiting in the background?

    Check this out:

First time I saw Ronstadt she opened for Jackson Browne at Gaston Hall at Georgetown University which seats maybe two hundred. She had Lowell George and Sneeky Pete in her band !

    Peace-

Fast forwarding to more present times, I thought her show with Emmylou Harris in support of The Tucson Sessions was one of the best shows I've seen in recent years. She blew the doors off the place when she sang "Blue Bayou."

    No.

I saw her thru binoculars from the 8th row. She was wearing the polka-dot dress. And it was her birthday that day, too! :)

Her DCC gold discs are awsome! :)

I had a crush on her too. I forgot. I used to stare at my mom's Eat To The Beat album.

I remember buying "Different Drum" 45 back in 1967. I still love that song.

Personally, I have a soft spot for her version of All I Have To Do Is Dream with Kermit. Love that thing.

It's on the fourth (rarities) disc of her box set. Might be worth the exhorbitant price of the whole box (not really, but still a great track)!

Talk about one idiosyncratic set - Linda was much too involved with the compiliation of that box - omission of hits (um, "It's So Easy" wasn't worthy of inclusion, Linda??) reverse chrono order, etc...

And her version of "Crazy". I see that was left off too, just like on other compilations. Why?

Never let the artist program their own box set. Always a disaster.

What a lady! Lately I've been enjoying her collaboration albums with Emmylou Harris. They do very well together indeed!

I'll say! Western Wall (or is it called The Tuscon Sessions?) and Trio 1 and 2 are favourites.
