I just picked up a Track Records UK copy of Smash Hits today and was wondering if it's the first British pressing? Any good Hendrix vinyl experts or sites out there? I did a few searches but didn't come up with anything conclusive. Thanks in advance.

The cat# is 613004 stereo. The record has a black label with silver print. Is the mono version better? I just noticed the fine print on the back that reads "Enhanced for stereo from original mono recordings" which is something that usually makes me steer clear of a record.

That's the one with some of the most teeth-rattling treble on some tracks - that is one album that I have in my collection that looks cool but is basically unlistenable in many places.

If EVERY track is reprocessed, it's a first pressing. Unfortunately, the later, real stereo copies on Polydor kill it, but it's cool thing to have anyway.

Yes, Track 613 004 is the first catalogue # assigned to the stereo "Smash Hits".
