Well, not a legitimate item anyway. Check the seller's other auctions. You can get pretty much any Beatles album you'd like from this guy on a gold CD. Hmmm. ... who wouldn't like to own Capitol's "The Beatles' Story" on a 24 karat gold CD?

I also love how these auctions are Paypal only with no scans of the discs.

You're right, the whole catalog in gold all ending on the same date.

a scam I'd say, he's up to $500 in total bids.

but he has no negative feedback

CDR on Mitsumi blanks. Sheesh, and his feedback is fluffed if you haven't noticed.

    A big, stupid scam.

$36 bucks so far for a ****ty CDR! Look at all the other "rare gold CDs" he has on the chopping block.

I will definitely avoid this seller due to them being CD-R's.

It's incredible what stuff gets on e-bay. No bootleg policy, yeah right.

Just like Goldmine magazine. If it weren't for the bootlegs in the ads the magazine would be half as thick.

There are no legitimate gold cd's of the Beatles. I remember they use to call them MFSL gold cd's when actually they were a CDR of the MFSL LP...I don't know how someone can openly get away with copyright infringement. These people need to be shut down.:realmad:

I personally won't go so far as to totally slam boots, but, $36 bucks for a CDR is ridiculous. I do like me boots!

I think I saw this in a store recently for $21 (not sure if it was gold, but it was in a digipack). It's one of those "gray market" type imports. Check out www.vvinyl.com that's the store I saw it in.

Hi Sckott - I'm a bit slow on this one, could you point out some of the tell tale signs to look for in the feedback, I noticed one suspicious "co-incidence" but if I hadn't been looking probably would have thought the feedback was legit.

If eBay takes a "slice of the action" on a boot isn't it an accessory ?

    All the best - Andrew

Look for feedback from the same person, over 10X left at the same time. It's stuffing the positive feedback ballot box. Many sellers with little or no fedback don't even get the time of day. A seller creates a second user and buys his own stuff. He also leaves his user names on the system for months so he doesn't look like a spring chicken either. All this behavior creates a fake user with phony credentials. It also makes him look normal enough, so that there's no "sunglasses" over his name, and positive feedback looks like it's left along with accountability because his user name is over 4 months old. When you see a possible bootleg, take a look at the feedback, after noticing that the same person bought ALL of his stuff at the same time with glorious feedback, changes are, it's a stuffer.

It's like voting for yourself over and over again.

The low-down on MFSL CD-R Beatles is that these manufactured CD Beatles on MFSL are all vinyl-drops. There are basically 2 main ones. The aluminum set from Japan (company unknown) and the gold ones from Italy (company unknown) retailing for around $22.00 US. IMHO they do sound a lot better than the standard Capitol CD's but I'm in the boat with Sckott in that they should be more approprietly priced say $10.00 including deluxe packaging. $22.00 for a CD-R, give me a break!

Are we sure this is a CDR? I've seen real 24-karat gold boot CDs before.

Well Dave, actually, I'm just parroting what I heard from fellow members. I think it was Sckott, Luke, and Michael who clued me into these facts. I do have CD-R's of them all and do enjoy the sound on the first 3 albums.

Sckott, care to take the helm?:help:

A few years ago I picked up a CD that appeared to be a Beatles Gold Disc. The only problem was that the packaging was all in Japanese. Upon searching the web, I found the following description on a Beatles site. Does anyone hear have any information on this disc or the label that it is on. Thanks in advance for any help on this.

Ebay does have a policy against bootlegs and it comes up every time a seller lists a music CD item. Unfortunately their policy is only as good as their enforcement of it, and from what I can tell it isn't enforced.
