I thought it sounded like latter-day Miles - what piece exactly? Thanks.

I think Carrie was playing kind of blue in the pilot episode.

Curious, I don't know what 'playing kind of blue' means. Can you enlighten me?

Carrie was a Miles Davis fan, and 'Kind of Blue' is a recording of his.

I must be the only person who watches this show who has never seen '24'.

I had never seen "24" until the most recent run last year.

I haven't gone back to catch up on past seasons...

24 is an edge of your seat deal. I've watched the whole thing twice. last time 3 years ago. I'm ready to get back jack and do it again.

The first five seasons are really good -- especially season 5 (one moment in particular will blow your mind). Season 6 is by far the worst of the series (starts off really strong then starts to drift big time around the 5th or 6th episode) while 7 & 8 are merely okay though both definitely have some good moments.

    Some Homeland news:

    Homeland
‘s 5th season will jump forward in time and be set two-and-a-half years from the point of season 4′s conclusion. The next season is said to film primarily in Europe, probably Germany, and Danes’ character Carrie Mathison will no longer be an intelligence officer.

    I never watched 24.

I would be ok, if they phased her out. It ain't happening, but I think it would energize the show.

haha i can't believe that. why do all showtime shows get completely out of control?

I thought Season 1 of 24 was the greatest thing on earth. Every season after that was the same thing all over again just changing the nationalities of the evil-dooers and the nature of their weapon of mass destruction. It just became unbelieavable that all these terrorist groups had complete armies and unlimited resources and logistics, yet be completely undetected in the US. If you haven't seen 24, Season 1 is all you will ever need, if just to see an exercise in TV making with the conceit of the 24 hour long plotline.

The kidnapping of Saul was pure 24. How many people got kidnapped (for a few hours at least..) so that Jack could rescue them or force TCU to do something incredibly stupid to get them back?

The terrorists entering and attacking the embassy was also pure 24.

Really, I hope the series ends here (end of season 4), as a warning that, after all, "the terrorists won".
