So I put on my new Tina Turner LP and go into the kitchen to get some snacks for my 12-year old son and his two 12-year old friends. I hear the record skip and though, bummer, I guess that lp wasn't as in good a shape as I thought. Then a minute later I hear the record bouncing wildly. WHAT THE F#$? I run back into the livingroom and one of my son's friends is jumping up and down in front of my turntable with a big smile on his face because he was making the music jump! Arrrrrrrgghhhh. Big fun! Never new you could make music skip? MP3s don't do that, eh? Man!! That little brat caught an earful quick. Jezuz!!!! Kids!

That's why the ads say "child free, pet free, smoke free home".

My home is all of the above.

Good thing the woofers are still in one piece! But I was weaned on Heathkit. I learned how not to make the record skip about the same time I learned to walk. And 50 years later, I still walk silently and stealthily.

Children must be taught to respect daddy's equipment at a very early age. Like... three.

Oh, I don't know--kids will be kids. In fact, personally, I'd join in the fun. I'd put on my hobnail boots and jump up and down really hard on the iThingamajig that has the kid's video games or .mp3s on it. :agree:

I would have been horrified as well! My nephews are not allowed in my listening room. When they come to visit their grandparents I make sure that room is locked up tight!

I let my young daughter and her friends mess with my system all they want. The way I look at it is, there's nothing they can break that I can't upgrade. The retched kids haven't broke anything. :waiting:

Sounds like something a 5 year old would do. But 12 years old????!!!!! I'll bet you can't wait to see what they are like in their teen years. Hell is a coming......

Exactly. Sound like really immature idiots. Neither my son, (12 in 1995), nor my grandsons ( 4 & 7 now ! ) have ever acted that stupid.

I had my own stereo by the time I was 12. Would never have done something like that, although I did trash some crap single I didn't like once, and played it on a crap turntable on a half-busted Panasonic record player, just to see what would happen...

But screw up a perfectly good record on someone else's turntable? Never in a million years. Wouldn't have even occurred to me. I ran around the house fixing things, not breaking them...

Reminds me of (nearly) the exact same thing that happened to me years ago. My sister came for a visit, and brought my 7-year-old nephew, Andy. Who decided the most fun he could POSSIBLY have at Uncle Jim's house was poking in the domes of my Dynaudio D28's.

There are many adults who require continuous supervision, unfortunately. Each of our states spends about 6-8% of their budgets doing just that and more wait to get in every hour. We spend nearly $2 billion a year doing it here. Hey, hold my beer and watch this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Txting and driving. Leaving kids in a hot car. I didn't know my license was suspended. Cities that become the wild west on the weekends. etc

Well, the guy shooting the video apparently doesn't share your sentiments - he actually finds it rather amusing. :)
