I haven't been consistent with this but I have always loved hype stickers. Especially Beatles hype stickers. Wonder why? :p

I actually keep the cellophane with the hype sticker in tact because I don't know where to put them. I would like to maybe put them on a nice card or something but.. I would have to come up with something extra special -- not just an index card.

Anyone else put them on a card?

I was recently looking for a CD in my collection and when I opened it up a sticker fell out of the case...I thought of this thread immediately.

I keep them the same way, but I keep them inside the booklet or under the tray.

I really like hype stickers and save all unique ones. I agree with Michael above, I love pulling out a cd and seeing the sticker years later.

I wouldn't peel this sticker off. But, if the jewel case cracked, I wouldn't feel sorry about replacing it immediately.

I have about 300 CD's, and every Hype Sticker is stuck on the jewel box if I could cleanly remove it, and if I can't peel it off I cut it carefully with scissors and put it in the book. I 've always been OCD, but hey, it's part of the disc or album. The first album I bought was Cheech and Chong Big Bambu, and the rolling paper poster is still mint, and stored where the record company put it. Maybe that's what started it?

In the garbage they go. Useless to keep them IMO.

I usually leave the shrinkwrap on any LP I buy if it has any indicator of provenance.

Always carefully cut them out and place within the outer sleeve.

What am I, a hoarder? It's a sticker, not music.

Trashed with the shrink, every time.

I do keep the stickers/patches/miscellaneous merch that might be inside the sleeve, if its cool looking... Usually goes into a drawer to be randomly discovered years later and thrown out then. :D

This is a great topic that only anal-retentive music heads would understand. All you normal folks, run for cover. You might find this thread horrifying.

I just started saving the hype stickers in the last year or so. I carefully and ever so slowly peel them from the plastic shrink wrap, and gently and lovingly affix them right on the naked face of the cardboard case, digipack, or front insert. Then I have a cigarette. :D

I always save them. Wish I had started earlier too...
    Some are incredible...
The Beatles Again "Hey Jude" is the total classic!
That huge bright blood red Hey Jude across the full top shrink.
Some of the early Fab4 had them too- like Revolver, A Hard Days Night..
Also Bob Dylan Blonde On Blonde had a neat one.
The one on top of the first King Crimson LP was great too....
These are VERY collectible and add a lot to the price if in NM cond on the SW.

Usually go in the trash. I keep all the inserts and artwork, but 99% of stickers get thrown out. Sometimes they are stuck on the jewel case and I peel them off and bust out the Goo Gone.

The problem these days is that too many people save the hype stickers and obis and such. In the old days (primarily the 80's) most paper obis would get thrown away, which means that I can actually sell many of my old CD's today. It's odd - there seems to be little interest in the discs alone, but with the obi, I can sell them.

My favorite stickers are the title and tracklisting stickers from US albums like the White Album and Exile. If you can find promo copies, sometimes they are stuck directly on the record.

I save them, usually for vinyl. I cut out a piece of the cellophane it's on and leave it in the sleeve. Why not?

One sticker I would like to have is the one from the US Rubber Soul that says something like "It's the new Beatles album, featuring 'Michelle'". It's an interesting historical anecdote - all that amazing music on that album, and the "plug" track was "Michelle"! There's another sticker that I used to see from time to time that said simply "Hear Paul sing 'Michelle'" - I don't think that one is very rare, but it's still worth 10 times the value of the album.

an OBI is part of the package...I can see why people want them, but stickers mean nothing other than to tell you what you already know...

I have that on my Revolver LP.

I was speaking of vinyl LPs in my above entry, although I do keep a lot of the CD hype copies also...

There's the small tracklist sticker from Exile on Main Street that was placed on the back to cover up a photo of a poster for a porn movie. That one's pretty common.
