I actually prefer The Slider for T. Rex. But, the first single I ever bought was Bang a Gong.

    Anyway ...

    Bang a Gong
    Jeepster
    Planet Queen
    Changes
    Oh You Pretty Things
    Life On Mars
    Kooks
    Bewlay Brothers

The Slider for the artwork, too!

You can't beat The Bewlay Brothers or Quicksand. :edthumbs: Hunky Dory and The Man Who Sold The World are my two favourite albums of all time.

I like The Slider better too. I was going to pit that against Ziggy Stardust. I thought people might be more familiar with Electric Warrior, though.

Electric Warrior blows past Bowie in this one. Voted for everything T Rex and only 3 items for Honky Dory. Both great albums but that was T.Rex's year.

so, how much impact will it have on your polling distribution if I check every single box?

It's only a bit of fun. There's no trophy at the end of it.:D

    Go for it.

I'd be a totally uninformed voter, sorry. I like Bowie and Hunky Dory; never listened to Electric Warrior. I know "Get It On (Bang A Gong)" was a Power Station song. ;)

Never could get into Bowie beyond a few songs.
    It's not like I haven't tried.
Maybe I'm trying too hard.

Vote for all Hunky song except "Song for Dylan", so I voted for "Bang a Gong" to fill the spot. And I voted for Hunky artwork, as I like Bowie with the long hair.

Since it was unlimited I picked everything from "Hunky Dory" - and nothing from "Warrior".

Sorry - never liked T Rex!

I voted for all songs and both album covers. Both equally essential.

As these polls are getting sillier and sillier, you might as well do The Man Who Sold The World v The Man Who Fell To Earth.

Both albums magnificent and both very different. I'll put on either one depending on my mood. Electric Warrior album cover gets my vote.

I chose them as they were both breaking through at the same time. In fact, I'd say T Rex were bigger in the UK in 1971/2. Not for long, though.:D

"The Bewlay Brothers" is my favorite Bowie song and when I get the forthcoming vinyl box, the first thing I'll do is play this track to hear Mick Ronson's guitar parts... This will determine whether or not the pressing is quality as I've heard this song a million times. In your spare time, check out "My Insatiable One" by Suede. The singer, Brett Anderson, swears the vocal on The Bewlay Brothers didn't inspire his vocal on that song, but it feels soaked in inspiration.

I don't think Bowie had a bad album sleeve in the 70's.

Bowie and Bolan may have had some kind of private competition between them, but musically they were worlds apart. Bolan was about groove, that was his strength as can be heard on "Mambo Sun" and "Get it on". But he had nothing to tell in his lyrics and his songwriting was very limited using the same few chords again and again.
Bowie was a storyteller and also had a wider musical alphabet. His "Life on Mars" has more different chords than the whole "Electric Warrior" album. Both albums worked well for both of them and are highlights in their careers. But there is no "vs". It's like compairing a hamburger with a piece of chocolate cake - I need both !
