I am listening to her on Spotify. Seems I can buy downloads or vinyl records but NOT CDs; so I won't be buying her albums. I will just listen to them on Spotify.
Yeah, I dig her. Have "Don't Smile at Me" on vinyl and have spun it several times. "You Should See Me in a Crown" is my favorite of her songs, though, and that's not on the album. Looking forward to seeing where she goes next.
Her new album, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do You Go will be on CD as well as LP and download on March 29 and this is the album with "You Should See Me in a Crown" on it.
I've got her new album on pre-order on CD, really excited. I enjoyed Don't Smile At Me a lot, and I'm digging the new, darker art-pop style she's seemingly headed towards (as heard on the first three singles). I just love "You Should See Me In A Crown", and "Bury A Friend" and the cover of the new album have a near-psychopath edge to them which works well with her music.
I skipped around on a few tracks when this came out last night wasn't feeling it much. But today I played the whole thing and am pleasantly surprised how much I like it after my initial reaction. I'll probably pick up an LP version. There's a glow in the dark version from her store that looks too good to resist.
Loving this new album. Also loving to see some traction for Billie on this forum. Great pop music, if you can even call it that.
The back story is pretty interesting. Hard to believe this is made by a 17 year old, and I think I like it, have to listen a couple of more times. Even if I wind up not being nuts about it, she's a real talent. This and the Nilufer Yanya are just such odd pop albums, you can't help but to cheer them on. Billie Eilish Is Not Your Typical 17-Year-Old Pop Star. Get Used to Her.
I already broke down and ordered that glow in the dark LP and got a shipping notice 5 minutes later and a link to my download code. I think her team was pretty organized and ready to sell some records today!
Listened last night and I thought there weren’t very many standout tracks. Production a bit too clean IMO; she doesn’t take enough risks musically. I’ll listen again.
I have the "Lime Green" cassette on the way. There was a glow in the dark cassette for sale but it sold out. I think they might still have the glow in the dark vinyl though. My first impression of the album (I have the digital download) is that it has interesting moments, but kind of fades out at the end after 'Bury a Friend". Still, I've been looking to listen to something different and not in my safe zone and this certainly qualifies.
I literally only heard her for the first time yesterday, after her being drawn to my attention by the Pomplamoose cover below. I listened to her first album though and, yes, she's good: lots of moods mixed into her work, including Lana Del Rey. I'll definitely try her second album.
Kids seem to love her music, while she seems talented I feel she is maybe trying too hard to be edgy on this latest record.
Listened again and I've come to the conclusion that 1/3 of the album is well written, if a bit overproduced. The rest is filler IMO.
