I want this card bad! There are a hundred of them in the world and I have eleven of them.
The seller kind of screwed up; his listing is missing some vital information so that some collectors will miss it. Still, I expect it to pull two hundred bucks. Guy has a Peyton Manning from the same set that I want. I don't love doing business with zero feedback guys but Paypal has my back and besides, we all had to start somewhere. Wish me luck!

    Cheers-
    Norm

Nope, there are 100 cards for each player in this subset.

You can find numbered sets with even fewer cards per player. There have been basketball sets with a unique 1-of-1 card for each player so you can imagine the prices fetched for those.

I'll never even come close. Still I want as many as I can get. The good thing is that Marinos place in history is secure. His playing days are over and even though he never won the "big one" he's easily one of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game. Also, I feel that he is even more popular now thanks to the HBO "Inside The NFL" show.

I have taken a pounding on so many cards. That happens when the guy is still playing. Imagine for example what's happened to Kobe Bryant's cards the past few months.

I have a huge collection of Edgerrin James cards and he's been so beat up the past two years that the value is way down. He's closing in on a thousand yards though and if the Colts manage to do something in the playoff; which admittedly that have been unable to do in the era of James, Manning and Harrison then perhaps I will see them bounce back.

Anyway wish me luck and thanks for the interest.
Gotta go try and snipe me a MoFi aluminum now...
    Peace-

    Good news: I won it!
Bad news: I got slammed. I got into a bidding war with a guy on one of the sellers other cards and cost him some money and he really got me back in this card. I probably paid twice what I should have. Damn

Just curious, Norm, why you want so many of the Marinos? Are you a fan or do you think it will be a good investment?

Not trying to cast stones - you should see some of the crap that I collect ;) - but I'm usually content with one or two of any similar item.

You ask a very valid question. I am a pretty crazy collector; always have been. I dig stuff that is numbered. I actually am a Marino fan but I also think that a guy like him, skill position player that is a lock for first ballot Hall of Fame induction is a good investment. Obviously I will never even get close to all one hundred. For one thing there are too many uncracked packs and boxes out there. That box used to go for over $200 and now you can BIN on eBay for ninety something. Still it's cool to have a lot of them. One day I may float them on eBay for grins. Who knows: Maybe Dan himself will bid

It's not just cards either; I have done it with music too. When I found out that MFSL Roy Orbison "Lonely and Blue" was limited to 2,500 discs I started to gobble them up. I had sixty of them at one point. The price on eBay hasn't budged in years. I think I have about 45 of them now.

I'll tell you one thing though: I have done over a thousand eBay deals and they are almost exclusively music and cards. The music guys are almost always cool and the card guys are often schmucks. I have had more problems with sports card deals by far than with anything else I have done on eBay. Us music guys rock!

    Peace-
    Norm
