The first film is a bonafide classic. I hate the rest. I think they're just awful. Right up there with Jaws the Revenge and Jaws 3D as far as sequels go. I was also surprised by the bad language seeing it recently Pretty surprising for a kids movie.

Back to the Future isn't intended as a movie for young kids. The characters are teenagers (and the actors adults), the plot involves teen concerns like dating and the prom, there's jokes about sex. It's a high school movie -- just because there's a science fiction element doesn't mean it's for children.

I love all of the films in the series. They manage to retain the same charm and sense of fun throughout.

One of my friends who saw it when it first came out complained about all the product placement (Calvin Klein, Pepsi Free)

If he loved the movie that would not have mattered...IMO.

They're all fun movies. The first one is the best. Next year is 2015, the year Marty traveled to in Part II, so I guess we'll be seeing those flying cars and skyways any day now.

I remember back in the 60's they were saying they'd be in the air years ago...well, it did not happen. Actuality we are going backwards...a different world today.

I doubt this will ever be a reality. Enough people get killed driving in two dimensions. Give them access to the third dimension and there will be chaos!

Cool yes, but will never be able to work like Marty's (it's meglev, so you need the right 'ground').

Someone in an earlier post referred to the word "damn" as a swear word. Since when was "damn" a swear word?

  19. I'm a hero at our host's home tonight...sent him the BTTF Trilogy blu-ray box via Amazon Prime...his middle son can't wait to see these movies in HD, as the Hoffman kids have apparently only seen them on laserdisc...:p He's calling me "Uncle Luke"!!!

Since the first time it was used as an expletive, I suppose. Anecdotally, it might have involved my Dad, a hammer, and his thumb, but chances are it predates that event. :)

"Damn" was a forbidden swear word when I was growing up in the 50s.

I was such a goody-goody when I was a kid in the 70s that I refused to sing "Christ" when I crooned along with "Ballad of John and Yoko"!

For reasons I can't explain, I thought "parasite" was a swear word back then. I remember I got Kiss's "Hotter Than Hell" album and was nervous about singing along to "Parasite" because I thought it was profanity.

Not sure how I handled that album's title song. Maybe I thought it was okay because "hell" meant the place, not the swear word! :D

I've met Crispin a couple times and he's actually very pleasant, but he's closer to this than he is to George McFly.
