If School of Rock Were Released in 1978 or 1983...

What would the 2003 film School of Rock have been like if it had instead came out in either 1978 or 1983?

A cross between Rock n Roll High School and The White Shadow.

 

And (just maybe) there might have been a MiniMoog synthesizer among the keyboards played by one of the grade-school musicians!

I would also imagine Barry Williams doing Jack Black's role! And possibly a few other Brady Bunch alumni as Christopher Knight, Maureen McCormick and Susan Olsen doing other roles.

No “real” rockers would’ve been involved back then. The whole concept would’ve been considered a corny sell-out.

Remember how offended people still were when classic rock songs appeared in tv commercials up to around 1990 ?

However, by the new milennium, rock’s entire swagger began to lose its “edge”.

 

My initial thought is SoR would've been marketed as a more family-friendly version of "Fast Times"

 

Too many are quick to blame the band, when they might not own the publishing rights to their songs.

Rock has been castrated by PC culture.

 

But Donnie Dacus was in that Hair movie...... oh, wait.
