If you could only have one regular LP recording featuring Mick Taylor, which one would it be?

Having been a huge Mick Taylor fan since 1967, that's a tough one for me but in the end, if I could only have one, it would be John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers, Diary of a Band. Taylor's playing on I Can't Quit You, Anzio Annie, and My own Fault (in particular) have left me stunned many a time. Yes, true, the recording quality is awful, but the music is there for us to hear. I'm hugely grateful for Mayall having thought to make those tapes.

Probably It’s Only Rock N Roll, basically because of Time Waits For No One (plus others) his solo almost makes you want to hang up your guitar.... it’s that brilliant!!

Unless we have to count his cameo on Let it Bleed, I would go for Exile on Main Street.

I don't know which one I'd pick but it would not be Diary of a Band as the sound quality is just not acceptable. I do however like the cover.

Sticky Fingers, but really any of the MT stones albums would do.

Keith was a huge fan of MT’s playing, which inspired Keith to come up with his best material to spur MT on. That dynamic resulted in the best stones albums.

His self-titled album (from 1979) is great. I have a nice promo pressing of this.

Bare Wires is a great album too, but the sound quality is awful.

Agree completely on your entire comment. On the Mayall lp i love Mick Taylor on the opening (Vacation) and closing cuts (Fly Tomorrow) most but a couple of others are nice also. On SF we have Sway, CYHMK, Dead Flowers & Moonlight Mile to immerse ourselves in and drown smiling.

One regular LP means - no Exile (2LP)? No Brussels Affair? And naturally no Ladies and Gents. Then Crusade seems to be the only option left.

Oh, well, if I can't have Exile, make it Taylor's solo debut album. I remember when I bought it, the smartass behind the counter at the record store said, "Yer really gonna listen to that?". That's right, pal, not only am I going to listen to it, I'm going to enjoy it as well!

im gunna go against the grain here... the santana-esque outro of cant you hear me knocking should have been faded out in about 2 seconds.

carl perkins nailed the MT style on "hand of fate". if they had wanted another mick taylor, he was him.
