This very well could be the dumbest question ever posed on the forum... most certainly, to my mind the dumbest thing I've ever initiated, although there may be some discussion to be had regarding that; so I ask for your indulgence and your thoughtful or spontaneous responses.

As for me, as my penance for wasting your time I'm going to really give it some serious thought and give it my all. That said; I'll need some time and I will get back on this. My first thought will be to what genres.

They're not even my favourite albums, but I can't imagine living on a musical diet of about 80 minutes of music. Plus these two albums have enough substance and depth to last me a long time!

  4. During the day:
Above The Law - Uncle Sam's Curse

    During the night:
Frank Sinatra - In The Wee Small Hours

  5. Does a box set count as an album? In which case, I have the Beatles box and the Pink Floyd box so I'm good to go!

I actually do have an answer, however: Amos Lee "Supply And Demand" (2006) and Billy Joel "The Stranger" (1977).

Happy to see some Keith Jarrett so early, but a very silly thread.

As you like... but single album selections carry more weight as the selection would be much more difficult... and meaningful.

Agreed. Just because you can, does it mean you should? There is no semblance of reality here.

I appreciate your thought process; day and night. The Wee Small Hours selection for sheer quality is an excellent choice, but I think every night when I played it, given it's downbeat forsaken woo, it would magnify the horror of the dilemma of my limited music and at a point it might drive me to picking up a 45. Set em up Joe!

I'm really into Miles Davis at the moment, so I'd say Kind of Blue even though that is an obvious, even cliche, choice. The other probably would be Rumours, simply because I love it and never tire of it.

Scherchen’s recording of Mahler’s 2nd symphony and my Japanese pressing of London Calling.

I think Kind Of Blue would be an obvious choice for a good reason. It's a recording that you can listen to over and over and over and never get tired of it. There are always new nuances to be discovered. And the mood of it can be both reaffirming and desolate. Much of it I believe to be in the eyes, or ears if you will of the beholder and what is brought to it. Obvious, yes. But a great choice... I think so. Rumors... I'm not as sure about. It is what it is... and will be for the future 5000 plays.

Excellent choices Marc. For the content and variation, as well as the depth in each.

Nice Roger! Nice on both counts. For me there's endless emotion and groove in each that come from different sides of the road.

Exile on Main Street, and something by the Beatles - maybe A Hard Day’s Night (UK stereo) or Rock and Roll Music (US “hot” mastering).

Just a question, an observation; no judgement involved... it's not my place. Might you not get too much of a single thing when you've got the option of a bit more diversity? And I do understand and agree to an extent the diversity within the Beatles catalogue is substantial to say the least.

Just a thought; thanks for your perspective and posting Michael.

Interesting... as early on as this thread is already 3 selections of Exile... which I absolutely understand. 2 London Calling; which I also understand.

...and numerous Beatles selections which I do and don't understand.

Definitely Morton Feldman string quartet #2 and probably Licht if I could get it as an album, otherwise Metal Machine Music with the reporting groove because it contains all the other records

I absolutely agree Met... there is absolutely no semblance of reason. I would however be fascinated on your suspending reality for a moment and seeing what you might choose. I would really. I'm not trying to be a d***.
