    I love that song.

There is a version by a band called Dixie Underground. But it doesn't seem that anyone else attempted to get a hit with it.

I know that R. Dean Taylor redid the song on the cheap so that it could be included on all those crap "songs re-recorded by one or more of the original artists" collections. But I have never heard any other artist cover it.

    Slight Threadcap:
When I was 3 years old I woke up one morning and looked out my window. I saw a 45 in the driveway and I remember running outside in my diaper to see what it was. It wasn't one of mine, so I asked my sister what the song was and she "Indiana Wants Me". I had never heard the song, but when I played it I instantly liked it.

The only thing close to that happening again in my life was stumping upon a mangled 8-track or cassette here and there.

I love this song too. I keep meaning to record a version of it for my own amusement because I hear some vocal harmonies in the chorus that I'm dying to try out.

Whoa - when you said you saw a 45 on your driveway, I was thinking 45 automatic. You had me worried for a few seconds. But then when you said "it wasn't one of mine" I knew you were talking the other kind of 45.

John Flansburgh of They Might Be Giants made of home recording of the song, which was made available through Emusic when they had the TMBG Unlimited series.

I hope any remake was better than the original.
