Even though I always thought it was a little moronic, I've always loved it. Still do. The only drum solo I can sort of play on my own butt in the shower.

I haven't heard it in years....remember thinking it was loooooooooong (too long at the time, IIRC)....but may need to revisit it.

It's funny how most people remember that drum solo as being sooooo long. It's actually only about three minutes.

Yup, even Garry Peterson's solo from "Key" off The Guess Who's "Canned Wheat" is longer than that!

Ron has said in interviews that on the stages the solos used to run up towards 30 MINUTES! Sometime,Bushy said,he'd played so much,he'd nearly passed out! Now,THAT'S Dedication!:agree::righton:

Can you tune both cheeks? How about the "drop-downs"? Any cymbal action there?

Love it and I always wondered if he did it in one take or if there was an edit or two.

It was all in one take..Brian Stone, who'd,supposevely,Produced the sessions, was stuck in traffic that day,and the band, who couldn't wait, told the engineer,"Just roll the tape!" and by the time Stone came in the studio, the take was completed!:righton:

That would make it a bum solo.

I caught the 1978 version of the band in a small nightclub and the place was PACKED with hippies and bikes. When they fired up the song, the sky turned green!:D As I remember, the song was at LEAST 30 minutes with a very extended drum solo. Glad I went out to see them, my only time. Same for Rare Earth at the same venue that year.

    Yes, I like the solo!

    Love it.

I mentioned before in a thread a while back, that when I was in high school marching band in the mid-70s (in the show-off tuba section) that I talked the drum section and director into playing that solo while we marched into the various football stadiums before the games. It was very well received everywhere we went, and sounded cool done that way.

Like Krupa in Sing, Sing, Sing IAGDV's drum solo stands on its own.
Who played the drum solo on Nillson's Jump Into The Fire? Another classic set of beats.

And has stood up well. May be more appreciated now than 'then'. It has been quite ridiculed for it's basic beat.
