Is a tube output cd player with a tube amp overkill??

    I'd go for the Scott tuner. I remember previous threads where people have said that Scott tuners sound excellent. I don't remember anyone raving over a SS tuner.

    Second up would be a McIntosh tuner.

    Hey - it's only a tuner! Not much on the radio these days, is there? If it was a tuna, it would be a different story.... ;)

    Hi Steve/Prix,

    I could not agree more. I run a HH Scott 350C tuner in the UK (a rarity here) I picked this unit up in Toronto in 2000 for a very reasonable price. It has since been serviced/realigned/de-emphasis adjusted for Europe.

    Remember - pay some attention to your aerial though - any tuner, even a nice Scott, won't give it's best otherwise.

    The rest of my system is tube - Leak power amp & EAR 834P mm/mc phono amp. The EAR is superb - recommended without hesitation.
