Is it worth it to watch the new season of The Walking Dead?

Recently I saw a promo for the upcoming season of AMC's The Walking Dead. I used to watch the show from the beginning but I didn't watch any of the previous season. From what I read and heard, there was a drop off in season 7 and also some controversy regarding the deaths of two main characters in the season opener.

With season 8 set to start in a few weeks, is it still a worthwhile series to invest my time in?

if you made it thru s7 then hell yes. Gotta see Negan get his, but yea it just dont seem like the old days of Hershal, andria, the govenor, beth, etc etc

though it almost funny watching negan and daryl on screen together, its like they are about to start laughing during the scene

Yes definitely because you know pay back will be a bit** for Negan.

That's the thing- I didn't watch any of season 7 when it aired. I have seen all the episodes up to the sixth season finale (when Negan makes his first appearance). I was pretty ill when the first couple episodes of season seven aired, and when I saw some of the reviews I just didn't bother to watch the rest.

I'll watch the first episode or two and go from there. Totally lost interest towards the end of last season.

I hope this season is the end. No show should go past 7 seasons.

I’m not sure what season is new up on Netflix but I know I wavered towards the end of the previous season I watched. I’m not sure I’ll give it a go or not.

I skipped Fear the Walking Dead this time, but I’m probably on board for the original.

My family gave up on it last year

  11. I gave up on it last year as well, having been a viewer since episode one. The Walking Dead gave up on telling a coherent story about its characters because it's a cash cow for AMC. They've killed off many of the interesting characters and introduced a bunch of cheaper replacements.

I keep watching it out of inertia, but I don't enjoy it much any more.
It's just repetitive survival porn. No overall plot direction, just one big baddie after another, kinda like a video game.
You know, I think I may have just talked myself out of watching season 8.

  13. That is an apt description for what the show has become. It's plodding zombie survival porn.

Season 3 of Fear The Walking Dead has been my favourite so far and I'm much preferring it over season 7 of TWD. It's certainly not perfect, but worth watching IMO.

It helps if you've got a masochistic streak. You say, "why am I watching this crap?" & keep watching, every episode, every season.

Logic would decree if you watched the other seasons then it would be a given you would want to watch the latest season.
