I can forgive women for most comedies, but it's the rare bird that "gets" the Marx Bros.

I think The Raid 2 would fit this thread. This fight sequence is insane.

She is a hard working gal. Like many farmers, she’s had to work with disgusting, stinking fat pigs.

I scrolled through this whole thread and pretty sure I did not see:

    Field Of Dreams

The ultimate father-son movie. I'm not even an athlete and I get choked up at the end.

Iffy on "Die Hard" - I think it has more "chick appeal" than the average action flick, but I could see it not being a fave for women.

100% disagree with "Bull Durham". It essentially is a "chick flick" in "man's movie" clothing.

It's a romance at heart that has little to nothing that would turn off the female audience...

I LOVE Ice Station Zebra. Dating back from when it was theatrically released.

Wait a minute, isn’t there a big love story in Bull Durham? A love interest would disqualify it!

Yep I saw that submarine crack through the ice in Cinerama in a freezing cold theater in Honolulu and I was there!

    See post 235! :)

"Bull Durham" isn't remotely a movie women wouldn't like...

Wasn't The Naked Prey about some kind of remote-island manhunt?

Oh, you have to check it out. It's set in Africa. Cornell Wilde is set upon by a group of native hunters and the entire movie is him trying to get ahead of them. Simplicity itself. That's why I like it.

    Thanks, I will. I hope it's black 'n' white. ;)

Did someone mention Die Hard? No man should ever speak the word 'supportive' unless he is talking I-beams.

Well, I've got another -- and a classic. I just watched Henri-Georges Clouzot's "The Wages of Fear" about four down and out men who agree to take the suicidal job of transporting nitro glycerine in trucks across Mexico. Yes, there is a "love interest' but she seems to get kicked around (and off trucks) with little afterthought -- so this is truly a Man's Man movie! Ha! Great film. Yves Montand is just amazing in this film! What a hero! The first film minutes of this film immediately had me under it's spell.

Anyone who thinks one of the “best things in life” is “to hear lament of their women” is definitely the star of a man’s man movie.

Hm. The only part of the movie I was ambivalent about was the actor playing the American boss I thought there was too much of him and he’s kind of a lousy actor. Once again reinforcing my belief that many non-native English speaking directors just don’t have the ear required to hear a good performance coming out of an English-speaking actor. Now I just found out the criterion collection version I saw restored 20 minutes cut from the film involving the American oil company, I need to see the cut version because I think that would really make the film a little better. The only draggy part of the film involves that oil boss character and the oil company.

It's a tough film. Center stage is hatred, racism, misogyny, betrayal, cowardice, greed, murder: Like I said, it's a man's man movie. ;)
