She’s from Hazel, KY which is not too far from Benton, where I grew up. Benton’s population was around 5,000 but it dwarfed Hazel, which was around 400. I’ve never heard, but I’m sure it’s interesting how she made it from Hazel to Hollywood.
Her family moved to Aurora Il in the 1950s. Then they relocated a few miles away to Batavia Il. Sharon Lee Myers started singing professionally at age 13 or so. She appeared on local radio and tv around that time too. She made it through soph year at Batavia High before dropping out to concentrate on her career. Based on that information her birthdate is probably 1941 and would have graduated with her her class in 1959.
