Really nice to see the band fully credited this time around.

Heard him on local radio station Lightning 100 this morning announcing the new album and a 5-night run at the Ryman Auditorium this fall. They played the cover of the Stones' "Can't You Hear Me Knocking" that will be on the Record Store Day release. Sounded fantastic.

  11. Hoping his upcoming album has some actual rock songs on it. I thought Something More Than Free was terrible.

I am also looking forward to a more guitar driven rock edge on the new album but I am mystified that anyone with even a passing interest in Jason Isbell would describe an album with songs like "24 Frames", "Something More Than Free", or "The Life You Chose" as terrible.

Agreed. There is a lot of music out there that could actually be described as terrible.

  14. It's easy. It was terrible. I've been a fan since his DBT days & I've seen Jason live 14 times. I just don't think the album was any good and think it's his worst...by far. The only song on the entire album that's halfway decent is Children of Children.

  15. Actually 15 times. I forgot I saw him as the "Jason Isbell Trio" with his then wife and former DBT member Shonna Tucker on bass and some guy on drums. This was when he was still in DBT. That guy used to tour constantly!

A new Jason Isbell album is always good news, now that`s what I call music!

Good song.. a step further into Springsteen territory, which isn't a bad thing.

Looking forward to the new album, the RSD release AND June 19 at the Fillmore in Philadelphia

Heard the news song when I saw him live last week - solid tune! Hope it's a good representation of the whole album. I was a bit disappointed with his last one, especially on the heels of the now-classic Southeastern.

He continues to be the real deal.

SouthEastern was fantastic. Something not as strong, IMHO.

The new single is great + his wife is hot and her last album was very good as well.

Best wishes to both of them for continued good fortune.

Anyone know when tickets go on sale for his shows at the Ryman? It says March but still shows not available for sale yet.
