This will always remain my favourite Pharoah Sanders platter, although primarily due to the mystical bass lines, driving ostinatos and the acute interaction courtesy of Cecil McBee and Stanley Clarke.....

i just wasn't in the mood. which is strange because i remember the last time i listened to it i was able to really get lost in the space he plays with. but yesterday....

yep - start with those ('inception', 'plays duke ellington' [!], and 'nights of ballads and blues'). they're all sublime.

Yeah, these are great! I also dig the cosmic stuff Tyner did for Impulse which was collected on that 3-CD "Mosaic Select" set. It's one of the best boxes they did IMO.

Just got the promo email from Mosaic for their upcoming Dial set. For some reason, I haven't been this excited in a while! Which is saying a lot, since Mosaic has been putting out some really great stuff -- Armstrong (times 2!), Crosby, Webb/Fitzgerald, Ellington, Shaw, Hines, Hawkins, Lunceford, Mingus... embarrassment of riches!

Yep, the McCoy Tyner Mosaic Select includes the Blue Note albums Expansions, Cosmos, Extensions and Asante. It's now OOP.
