Oh Yeah!! Lotus is next - thanks for the reminder. I don't have a TT anymore, but kept the vinyl of Caravanserai, Love Devotion Surrender AND Illuminations (above), just to have them! Illuminations is awesome!

I may have mentioned this already, but I saw them at a free campus concert without having heard any of the album. All I knew was that John was a "jazz guitarist". I was blown away by the volume, virtuosity & sheer speed of the music. I had the feeling that a lot of the audience was in my shoes. Quite a few people left after a few numbers, but the rest of us sat stunned until the end. One of our group of friends bought the album & we listened to it often.

After Devadip & Mahavishnu's blistering A Love Supreme, I've gotta put this on. Not much else to say!!
"John Coltrane - A Love Supreme" (1964) with McCoy Tyner, Jimmy Garrison, Elvin Jones.

Talk of the late, great George Duke had me reaching for this mid-70s gem. Interesting versions of Zappa's "Uncle Remus" and "Echidna's Arf" (the latter recorded about the same time as Roxy & Elsewhere),

The Laswell remix is quite different, and also very good.

Great band on this including George Coleman, Bobby Hucherson and Jake Langley. Even Jimmy Smith's 1959 Hammond B-3 organ (which Joey plays) get's a credit in the liner notes!

Yes, very true. Personally I didn't have that "Complete Blue Note and Pacific Jazz" set and the new one was at a much reduced price ($16 new). But yeah, I agree, most would (should!) already have this.

No, that's cool i agree with you - at least include all the material! Got lucky with the Pacific Jazz album, do have that one. For some reason there's always cheap, secondhand copies of that one around these parts. :righton:
