    Glad you like it! :righton:

  2. Folks, I need to repeat myself here: that new vinyl remix (EU version) sounds splendid!! What an upgrade! (Though have never heard the original from the UK)

Washing my copy seems to have open up the sound a little more still, and made the pressing a little less noisy. Now the surface noise (beginning of sides especially) at least doesn't bother me, and I can enjoy 100% this beautiful LP!

Using DVD Audio Extractor enabled me to download the entire disc to my hard drive, but not I am confused as to some of the chapters. The two long chapters I guess are the original flat transfers, chapter 3 being UK and chapter 4 being US? Is this correct? And what are the actual and exact songs included in all of the other chapters? Any help will be appreciated.

I believe that is correct. I did the same thing a few months ago.

Which one, the UK or the US?

Thanks. I am sitting here listening to as much as I can to name these chapters. It is an arduous task.

I would be interested as I just bought the Box and it would save me a lot of time. But, I can't seem to be able to send you a PM, at least, I can't find how <scratches head>. I must be thick because I've had private conversations in here before despite being a "New Member".

I'm a bit late here, but the Stereo remix sounds awesome too. Very crankable. (Man, I wish the guy would remix "This Was" and those early singles, especially Love Song".)

Overall, I'm definitely a fan of the remixed Benefit - "With You There To Help Me" and "Play in Time" are greatly improved IMO.

You know This Was was remixed in stereo a few years ago, not by SW, but by Peter Mew, who did a surprisingly good job.

  15. It's now called "conversation" instead of PM.

Right, I noticed that. It's just that I can't seem to find any links or options to start a "conversation" with anyone. Not in my inbox and not on member's profile pop-up. Could I ask you to start a "conversation" with me?

I like the mono version best. The sound of Mick Abrahams' guitar is reinforced in mono.
One caution: Vocal effect on "A Song for Jeffrey" distorts in mono.

  18. Do you know if this was an artefact of that CD's mastering, or was it present on the original mono version?

"A Song for Jeffrey"- that vocal effect is already pushed to the max on all stereo versions. I believe Peter Mew's overall bright mastering is the cause of the distortion. I would like both the stereo & mono deluxe versions to be less bright. My favourite sound wise is found on the MFSL "Living in the Past" CD.

You should hear the original US mono single, heavily compressed, the effect actually works, it's "in your face".

Running the gamut from Mono to 5.1 is so satisfying.

I know that, but in the posts above yours, the This Was DE came up and was discussed.
