Depends on your feelings toward the album. I didn't care for it, but this new mix really hit me in a good place. It's another entry in the list of "albums I'd dismissed until SW remixed them and gave me a fresh perspective." And yes, I mean that sincerely - even if it's not a LONG list...

It's too expensive for me. I have problems coughing up another 40 bucks or whatever for a box set of a record that I already have 10 different versions of. I am sure it sounds great. However, I will wait until they come out with a single disk version of just the original album without all the fluff. I bought the SW version of Stand Up for around $11.00. That is what I am talking about.

One thing I really noticed with SW's mix is that much of the harshness of the vocal on Song for Jeffrey has been removed............some people here really find that annoying in the original mix.

I like all of Under Wraps. Is it the most compelling songwriting of Anderson’s career? No. It doesn’t have to be.

I sat down and recorded myself playing acoustic drums along with those two tracks and they sound pretty cool with them. I’d love to hear the whole album reimagined that way.

Thank you. I love the album. I bought the album when it was released (I was 12) and it was one of the sonic hallmarks of my teenage years. In the discussions on this Forum about the history of Tull I often find it strange that others do not love the album as I do but recognize that it is quite different from what the band did later---or even what they did with the successor, "Stand Up." I guess I will buy it again.:D

The single CD version is also an excellent option. The rest of what is included in the box version is not ´fluff’ but rather what is making this release campaign a success and set a new boxset benchmark.

With 11 copies, you must really like this album!

Finally got mine from Am UK (actually reasonably fast).
Does anyone know what the differences to listen for between
the older US and UK stereo versions are?

Just broke down and bought this on ebay with the 15 percent off code. Looking forward to the surround mix.

Any reason to keep the 2 CD deluxe? I know it's a different stereo mix, but any other reason?

Still awaiting my order from Burning Shed shipped Nov 05. The postal rotating strike here in Canada is causing delays:waiting:
Oh well, I've pulled out the 1st press and 2nd press Canadian vinyls and they sound great. I can't wait to hear how good this new SW mix will sound:wiggle: hopefully before x-mas:faint:

I know the album well and there's one word I can use to describe my feeling on Steven Wilson's new stereo mix .... ****ing wonderful.

Sorry, that's two words but it really is that good.

The biggest change, imo, is that it sounds more organic than any previous versions.

I find I prefer the slower "Someday the Sun Won't Shine" ~ they made the right choice for the album. Still jazzed to have another performance of it, though.

Honestly, my favorite arrangement is the Little Light Music revival 24 years later. Wish they'd have thought of it in '68 : )
