What is that supposed to mean?

Really? I'm surprised as the reviews I read said the opposite.

In the words of Chrissie Hynde, "I'm winkin' at you." :)

It bombed on Friday. I mean, worse than the extremely low expectations. Don't be surprised if this has a weekend total of under $6M.

I've always hoped for a The Thin Man series resurrection. Though I've always been concerned they'd cast Depp because of his shtick.

The shtick doesn't sell any longer without being dressed up in a pirate outfit, so I can rest easier knowing that they won't be giving him another one of these types of films.

The Thin Man remains safe... for now.

Who could pull off the charm of Nick and Nora these days? Not sure... I love the vibe of those original films which nobody even watches or knows about anymore (outside of this Forum).

How about Kevin Kline for Nick?

Just saw MORDECAI. Not funny. The only time I was amused was when UK actor Paul Whitehouse made a cameo. Nice to see
him on a US movie screen. Other than that, the jokes don't work, especially endless ones they keep returning to based upon the
apparent innate hilarity of mustaches. I went in hoping for an old-timey British farce, and while Depp's character is vague Terry-Thomas like,
the material just isn't there. Probably the best thing about it is the score. And for those thinking about watching it for Olivia Munn, be aware
she's in it for only a minute or three.

    'Mortdecai' Tanks
....Johnny Depp's newest film, Mortdecai, is tanking in its domestic launch, earning an estimated $1.5 million Friday for a projected $4.5 million weekend, one of the worst openings of the actor's career. Mortdecai, eking out a ninth-place finish, received a terrible C+ CinemaScore and is the second straight bomb of 2015 after Michael Mann's big-budgetBlackhat, which also launched in the $4 million range.....

I think Depp is a terrific actor who's getting very bad career advice, plus he's now 50 and making poor decisions designed to try new kinds of roles he hasn't done before. The moment he did Lone Ranger, I said, "oh, this is not going well." That film is so jaw-droppingly bad, you wonder why nobody couldn't see it even when it was just a script.

Farce is incredibly difficult to pull off, everything has to work perfectly or it just crumbles into nothing...which is what it sounds like happened with this film.

Agreed. It appears his only career advice is $$.
You would think he would balance this out with some quality indie work.

    Maybe Anne Hathaway as Nora?

Similar to Nicolas Cage, a guy who seems to decide what movies based on $$ alone.

Anne Hathaway would be a piss-poor stand-in for Myrna Loy. She has the personality of a block of wood.

I'd have to think on it for awhile, I think it needs to be someone that's gifted with comedy, but also has that sophisticated/sexy quality.

I was going to suggest her before seeing the list, but now I'm thinking Carey Mulligan. There are a few good ones on there.

If it's even remembered by nominating season. Remember, Kirk Cameron's Saving Christmas was timed for Razzie consideration. :p
