It's a very simple preamp, not worthy of modding. It's great for what it is but what it is is a very simple and affordable preamp. You can already just buy the "upgraded" version as supplied by Jolida. I think all they do is install a couple of "Clarity" caps in place of a couple others. The last one that I had in here was such a unit and that's all that I noticed. I suggest buying an altogether different preamp if you want a true tube preamp. -Bill
It is perhaps best characterized as a passive unit with a tube buffered output. Traditional tubed preamps offer a lot more gain and many modern units have considerably more complex regulation than found on those more conventional designs. My favorite recent example of an excellent yet affordable tube preamp is the Rogue Audio Metis. -Bill
Cheers mate. I looked, but they did not have any mods for this particular model. I email them and is awaiting a reply. We'll see.
You should ask Michael Allen at Jolida (they do their own mods) [email protected] ...or ask Parts ConneXion in Toronto (they do all the Jolida mods for Underwood Hi-Fi). [email protected]
Usually Chris Johnson at the PartsConnexion did the mods, but that was a while ago. Hope you get good news. Chris did many mods on the Jolida amps and the cd player. http://www.partsconnexion.com/modservices.html
