My father has a JVC turntable in a closet. It's been there for years. It doesn't have a belt any more and the stylus is broke. The cartridge is a Shure M75ED type 2. He's asking me to take it home and use it. Now I have a Technics SL 1700 with a Shure V15 type 4 that I'm perfectly happy with.
I plugged the JVC and the pulley spins even when the arm is on the armrest.
Should I take it and have it fixed or leave it in the cupboard ?

I'm probably in a minority here but I'd bet that turntable would easily outshine today's entry level tts. Clean it up, put a new belt on it, get a new stylus or new cart and you're in business. If you have a need for a second tt.

Agreed. Nice looking table, and JVC made some good ones.
