From Kamasi's twitter: "So happy to announce my new project, a double album called "Heaven and Earth!" The Earth side represents the world as I see it outwardly, the world that I am a part of. The Heaven side represents the world as I see it inwardly, the world that is a part of me."

Another double album? I'm honestly not big on these really long albums...I preferred his Harmony of Difference 'EP' to The Epic.

Sounds like it's gonna be 2 separate themes though. I'll bet they play as two distinct albums.

Did you guys snag the Ryan Porter album that was recorded at Kamasi's house between 2008 and 2009? It's called The Optimist.

Hopefully this sounds better than his previous album and EP - I like the music, but the mastering was just awful (not only the vinyl, CD version too).

I'll have to look for that one. Seven copies of the Ryan Porter vinyl remain.

    The Optimist, by Ryan Porter

I really hope this vinyl gets done right. Sigh.

Excellent news. Hope it's also well priced again, like The Epic was for a triple album (and Harmony for a mini-album).

I don't know where that picture comes from, but those modified tennis shoes are ridiculous. And they make his feet look oddly small.]
Sun Ra for the hip hop generation? Doesn't quite do it.

Different strokes for different folks. The sneaks have nothing to do with the music.

Have you listened to his music? It’s brimming with energy and integrity. He’s the real deal.

They played the full 9 and a bit minutes of ‘Fists of Fury’ on 6 Music this morning - sounded fantastic.

I think among the unconvinced that that is the question. Jazz is hard to like if you don't give it a chance. And I question what kind of social context there is to hold up a jazz revival.
