Ignorance was bliss for me. I hadn't heard the COTN album until the 2014 remaster. Wasn't aware it was a different mix. My favorite 80s Kiss album now. To be fair I haven't heard Asylum or Unmasked either.

No, the drums have been toned down from the original mix. I LOVE the drum sound on the original 82 mix and 97 remaster. It is the best recorded drum sound on a album ever in my opinion.

It is a phenomenal album no matter the mix. It is my favorite 80's Kiss album too. I am jealous of you because the first time I heard Creatures my mind was blown on how incredible it is.

Creatures is possibly my favourite too. Best drum sound ever imo.

I like Creatures drum sound as everyone else does but to me it gets tiresome rather fast. The very similar thunderous sound was popular among the metal crowd around the same time on East Coast (first Twisted Sister album (1982), Manowar's second (1983)). As for the songs - well Creatures was a huge stepdown in terms of songwriting and the first step towards 80's mediocrity.

I respectfully disagree. I don`t think they have done anything nearly as good since.

The Mastered for iTunes version is the 82 mix.

Nope War Machine is remixed and I believed one other song as well.

RE: Creatures of the Night (1985 version)

    1. The title track was remixed
    2. All the other songs had a slight low end cut and mid boost to bring out the guitars more
    3. Danger has a slight fade out at the end
    4. Saint & Sinner was swapped with Killer

NOTE: War Machine and I Love It Loud are also listed as remixed but those mixes have never been used or surfaced.

See my note above...War Machine and I Love It Loud were remixed but not used.

Well they may have resurfaced for the EU vinyl because War Machine to my ears sounds the most obvious that it is different on it compared to my 97 remastered CD. It could just be my ears playing tricks with me however.

Right...Saint & Sinner was a real step down...

Creatures was the first in a string of KISS albums that gave them a musical credibility they never enjoyed before.

The first 3 albums give them all the musical credibility they need.

I did a side by side comparison of War Machine and ILIL on the 97 remaster and Chikara and I couldn't tell a difference. Creatures was the only one that stood out.

Much as Bartles76 stated...I did an a/b not long ago and the Chikara versions are the same as the 1985 re-EQ'd versions (though they are listed as the remixes, they are not)

The KISS Box set has the 1985 mix of Creatures (very poorly mastered I might add,) War Machine and I Love It Loud are the 1982 versions if memory serves.

So the 97 remaster is not the 82 mix remastered? Because the drums are way toned down on the 2014 mastered for itunes version. I want the bombastic drums of the 97 remaster mix. I am confused?
