KISS, now celebrating its 40th anniversary, has earned more gold album record awards than any American band in the history of the Recording Industry Association of America's (RIAA) gold and platinum awards certifications.

In the last 41 years, KISS has earned 30 gold albums (26 KISS albums and 4 solo albums that were all released simultaneously — a feat never before achieved by any band). KISS has 14 platinum albums, with three albums being multi-platinum.

Congrats to them. I wasn't a huge fan of the 80s pop-metal period but they adjusted to the times and defied the critics who said they would disappear by 1980.

If you are counting albums by a group and its individual members, CSNY have more.

The KISS solo albums only went gold as far as the number shipped back to Casablanca was concerned, so it's all a pure band accomplishment with no qualifiers. They're not my favorite group, but there's no disputing this is an impressive accomplishment. Queens NYC represent!

When your band in 1977 is more popular than The Beatles, you might be doing something right. When you take off the makeup and still have massive success, you know that there is something special happening.

They're not the most talented band in the land but Kiss has worked hard for what they have.

So do I but I did watch "Scooby-Doo! And Kiss: Rock and Roll Mystery" last night and liked it.

I thought their 40th anniversary was 2 years ago, wasn't it? By 1975 they had their third album out.

Gene Simmons just did a walk-on "Good Morning America" this morning and while I agree that his band is musically worthy, the guy in real life, out of makeup, is a damn greaseball, in my opinion!

I love HTH too! On this forum and KISSfaq I read a lot about people not liking the "gritty" sound, but I actually love the sound of it.
