My preorder is in for the super deluxe versions of these 2.

I was/am completely satisfied with the first 3 Super Deluxe packages. I can't wait for these. These Davis remasters are the definitive versions for me. I have them all on iTunes now, and know exactly what I'm getting. My RL vinyl Zep II is the only other version that has gotten play from the first 3 records, other than these new versions.

The 'Zep' bonus track I'm looking forward to most is on a Wings reissue. Weird.

3 months in advance is too early for me to place a pre-order. Sometime over the upcoming month(s) a special deal might surface, such as the B+N 3 for 2 on the last batch.

I thought about that and then thought "I doubt they'll do a buy one get one (BOGO) at B&N." You never know though, it could happen. That's why I'll be watching these threads. I pre-ordered mine through Bull Moose and saved a good $12-13 instead of via Amazon.

As an aside, why do we have two threads of these releases? I understood when there was a break for the first three releases. I would prefer a single thread for these sets.

If the first three albums are any indication then these will surely be great sounding CD's and no doubt the best digital versions to date! The samples of the MFiT versions sound great

Plus the bonus tracks, while not anything truly rare, should be interesting. Even though I was hoping for more alternate takes and unreleased songs and less alternate mixes it should be interesting to hear

    Preordered!

I just put the preorders for Super Deluxe Edition-boxsets of both IV and HOTH and also every other format (normal-lp, deluxe-lp, normal-cd, deluxe-cd) aswell as I got those all in the first batch aswell.
At the moment, it seems that in Europe the best price for each configuration is over at Amazon.it (atleast from what did check and gather info on the prices) and unless anything significant comes before the release, then I will change over to some other. Amazon is wonderful and their customer-service is exemplary and also their preorder-method is great.

Quite true! It amazes me how many folks seem so intent on ignoring this basic fact, in order to make sweeping pronouncements about how great or disappointing these bonus discs are.

They don't have to be complete shows, for crying out loud. I would think they could add a few live tracks to these releases, but maybe they are saving them for some sort of live release in the future, this time cobbled together from different shows across the years to present a history of the group. It will sell well to the same crowd as the remasters and even beyond.

Since Coda is supposed to get the 2 disc treatment, afaik, I expect it will include a full disc of extra tracks. That's going to be its selling point, I would think...

Is PG really getting an additional 2 disc treatment?

It's possible the two Bombay tracks will show up on Coda, since they're not directly related to the album recording sessions for either III or IV, having come well after the latter album.

I was thinking about this... and maybe it could? Even if it is made in part with leftovers, I'm sure those leftovers had alternate mixes. But there are also three unreleased titles: Swan Song, Take Me Home, and In The Morning. Plus a groovy jam/instrumental. But I guess we won't know until spring.

I would be very surprised if PG got 2 bonus discs. The original album is only about 2-1/2 minutes longer than the capacity of a CD. Plus so much of PG was already outtakes from earlier years. So I feel confident we'll get a single CD of PG. Whether the vinyl version requires 1 or 2 LPs for the bonus material, however, is an open question since obviously an LP has less capacity than a CD. If they include alt versions of the PG outtakes, then I would say there's almost certain to be a 2-LP bonus set for PG. But if they stick to alt versions only of the tracks recorded in 1974, then I'd say we're looking at a single LP bonus.

I would imagine that they don't, however. And, perhaps will keep the bonus cuts on two discs whether or not they run over the time limit, simply because they can. It's been done before...

What omissions might there be from PG bonus tracks? D'yer Mak'er, Lemon Song, Bring It On Home, Hats Off to Roy Harper, Tangerine, and Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp haven't been included as bonus tracks from the other albums. Fwiw, I am thinking Boogie With Stu and maybe Bron-Yr-Aur? Black Country Woman? Will there be previous work-in-progress studio mixes that have survived of Night Flight or a few of the other earlier songs that could get included?

  23. A friend and hoffmanite spent a week at my place in Seattle this past week. We've know each other for 40 years and worked a a record stirred together back in the 70s

We played my copies of LZ2 classic and new issue and even though both were great the classic was brighter and harsher in areas and the new one smoother. So one more reason to go for these new ones if you don't have a good set. And the price point is perfect.

    Nice, very funny guys!
Anyway my question was for the detailed link on Amazon.it, where I can see both the preorders because till the day before yesterday there was nothing for LZ IV and HOTH...I will check this evening again.
