I have the Lennon 4 CD boxset from around 1990.

I have seen most people on this forum say it has been NR'd. I have also seen another posting saying the 4th disc has not been NR'd (Questions on John Lennon Double Fantasy & Milk and Honey CDs)

How does this 4th disc which has the Lennon tracks from Double Fantasy and Milk and Honey compare to the Polydor Milk and Honey and the Geffen Double Fantasy? From what I have read the Polydor and Geffen are the best version of these albums on CD.

To answer part of my question, I compared the Lennon Boxset (4th CD) to the same songs on the Working Class Hero: Definitive Lennon. I believe Working Class Hero includes songs from the 2000-2005 remaster.

I think the Double Fantasy songs are very comparable on both. I even think the Lennon Boxset has a clearer sound on certain songs.

However, I like the Working Class Hero versions of the Milk and Honey songs much better than the Lennon Boxset.

I have the 4 cd 1990 Lennon Box set and have it matched to the iTunes store for the best available lossy versions.
    Both sound good.

Working Class Hero has remixes so not an Apples to Apples comparison.

This is true, but the remixes only apply to the earlier tracks. None of the Double Fantasy or Milk and Honey tracks were remixed, only remastered.

Have it too .. there was something listed wrong, or left off the box
on the first issues. Just can't recall what it was at all...

The title for Imagine was missing from the box. It is just a blank space.

Actually, I was just listening to this the other day and I noticed that on the Elton John live duet tracks, the vocals seem to be mixed really loud compared to the instruments.

I am presuming this is the same mix that is on the EP from 1981, as they both have the dialog. Does anyone know if the expanded Here And There has different mixes or the same [minus the dialog]?

Talking about being sloppy - what the hell was John Lennon thinking when splicing those two parts of Working class here that are not even in the same key or speed?

    Just a guess.

"Hey, I'm going to splice these two parts together, I know they're aren't in the same key, or at the same speed, but only a overly-sensitive OCD wanker would care..."

Just my two cents. The 2010 remasters are the best remasters of the original mixes you can find on disc, but I prefer the previous reissues where most of the albums were remixed. Mind Games. In particular, is great.

Which year were the individual album remixes done?

    2000 to 2005...

They were released sporadically throughout that period...

    POB-2000
    Imagine-2000
    Sometime in New York City-2005
    Mind Games-2002
    Walls and Bridges-2005
    Rock 'n' Roll-2004
    Double Fantasy-2000
    Milk and Honey-2001

I agree, regarding the remixed "Mind Games", which I find to be revalatory.

Live Peace In Toronto 1969 was actually the first remixed Lennon title - 1995. And just to clarify, Double Fantasy was not remixed in 2000, just remastered.

How drastically was the Lennon 4 CD Boxset from around 1990 NR'd?

Pretty bad. And it didn't do much to help tracks like "Power to the People" which sound both muffled AND distorted
