Well this sounds good, but it's not the original mix, but the Rhino remix:

    Grateful Dead - Live/Dead (MFSL)

    so, I can't recommend it.

Going to recommend adding Carl Broemel's "All Birds Say". Got this about a year ago and dug it out again tonight. I had forgotten what a nice slice of alt/folk/country it is and it sounds fabulous, especially (unfortunately) by today's standards.

Thanks PJJK, I think you just cost me about $200.

I got the PF 2011 Discovery reissues and they do sound really good. Supposedly it's the best they've sounded on CD (except maybe the Oh By The Way reissues).

I have a number of these titles and I completely agree. A lot of these are overlooked (i.e. Dot Hacker, Divine Fits, GZA, LITA releases, One Day as a Lion, Brendan Benson) . Great list, I need to look at my list and see if I have any to add. This can be a very resourceful thread.

I would definitely add the MOFI Dead Can Dance Into the Labyrinth--absolutely demo-worthy on my system (unfortunately, their new album, Anastasis, sounds like compressed mush, even on vinyl).

The current vinyl issue of Godspeed You! Black Emperor's Raise Yer Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven sounds wonderful as well--haven't heard the vinyl version of their latest yet, but looking forward to it.

All the Music Matters Blue Note reissues sound amazing.

I love musicforthemorningafter and the anniversary edition is also a nice pressing, FAR superior to the CD.

Amazon shows the label for Back and Forth as Sony and AcousticSounds shows it as Columbia. Are either of these the one you are referring to?

Just realized you are likely the "Carey" that has the review on AcousticSounds. But I wonder where Amazon is getting the Sony reference.

    Thanks!

Are the same as the original Warner Bros CDs?

I remember liking 'Machine Head' very much :agree: , but 'In Rock' had the butchered 'Speed King' :shake:

Yes they are the same as the original Warner Bros. CDs

The CD issue of the original Engelbert Humperdinck Greatest Hits LP is excellent sounding and this comp has most of the essential 60s classics.

ManCave, I'm looking at the record right now. It says copyright 2009 Sony Music Entertainment on the lower left corner on the back | manufactured & distributed by Columbia Records, a Division of Sony Music Enterainment. So I guess both sites are technically right. I think there is only one pressing and it's 2xLP and even though it isn't advertised, this copy is definitely 180g vinyl.

Ha. And yes that is my review. I feel like I owe those guys. Chad Stelly over there did a great job setting up my TT when I bought it. Great people to deal with. So I try and review stuff when I have time.
