Mutter's Mendelssohn, recorded at roughly the same time, again with Herbie, is magnificent though. Still my favourite version, after all these years
Crikey ! He's smiling ! Well almost. I suppose there's always a first time........... Just jesting. Love Radu. Especially his Schubert
As a Brit, I must agree. One played football, the other played handball.................. I'm not bitter. After all these years. Honest.

Check out the following Beethoven String Quartets. It is reasonably priced with good sound. It was my first Beethoven String Quartets box and now I have five ...
So do I, but that won't keep me from getting this set - and it does save shelf space; I have removed all my Arrau Philips discs from the shelves in anticipation of the box.

Morton Feldman: Triadic Memories by Marilyn Nonken on Mode This is just a 1 disc excerpt, a complete version spans two discs. This is not quite as sparse as other Feldman late works, not as long either. I don't have a copy of the complete work so I don't know if they just picked out the more active parts for this release. A lot of time is spent in the low end of the piano.
First listen to CD 2 from "The Choir Of King's College Cambridge - The Complete Argo Recordings" directed by David Willcocks on Decca. "A Festival Of Lessons And Carols" from 1958.
I have it in digital form. Live recordings (and some studio ones, if I recall correctly), mono sound. I listened once, maybe.
(CD Decca German Press 421 094-2) 1988 .... recorded 1970 @ Sofiensaal Vienna Austria .... superb Schubert reading by the fabulous Weller Quartett + Dietfried Gürtler .... btw truly wonderful sound ....
I seem to remember reading that this is a highly regarded recording of Antar ... I might look out for a copy.
If you are thinking of getting the Triple Concerto, you might also consider the "Archduke" Trio for some prime Beethoven chamber music. Lots to chooe from, but the Isotomin/Stern/Rose Trio recording (from 1966) is the performance that I turn to most often. (My LP pictured below, but I'm sure it's available on CD.) Can you cite some work(s) by Beethoven that you don't like? Know that may be helpful in making suggestions...
