Now listening to CD 1 from "The Hilliard Ensemble - Ockeghem, Josquin Desprez, De La Rue & Lassus" on Virgin Classics. Ockeghem - Requiem / Missa 'Mi-Mi'
Me neither. I sort of liked the first couple of Black Sabbath records but quickly lost interest in the then emerging genre. Almost everything I've heard since gets silenced in 10 seconds or less.
Listening again to my cassette tapes made in the 90s from library CDs. Doing a bit of research (I didn't indicate sources on the tape boxes), it seems this 1987 reissue compilation is what I heard tonight. The BWV 140 was originally issued in 1979 & the BWV 243 in 1962. I really enjoyed both, especially the singing of Fischer-Dieskau. Richter conducts the Münchener Bach-Chor und Orchester. ( I just noticed this is a picture of the French edition.)
I must be a sourpuss & say the cool Manfred Mann was the original band, the guys who did "Do Wah Diddy Diddy".
Now listening to CD 22 from "Bruno Walter - The Edition" on Sony. "Mahler - Symphony No. 5" performed by the New York Philharmonic.
Richter was also a fine organist. I can actually remember this image as that of the library CD. Recorded 9/25-28/78.
Now listening to CD 4 from "Marcelle Meyer - Ses enregistrements 1925-1957" on EMI. Debussy: L'Isle joyeuse Preludes I Preludes II
Double evil twins here from my collection - full analog and full digital Needless to say, I have not played the LP box in well over 30 years but last listened to the CD box a few years ago ...
@coopmv - I'd love to see your (and all y'all's) collections in the show it thread. It could use a little classical-ing up. I just posted most of mine. Show us your CD & Vinyl Collections.. Difficult task for me at this moment as my collection is spread across multiple rooms, i.e. my historical recordings and SACD's are in my study/computer room while everything else is in my music room ...
When you get some time.... It's good to have pix for safety's sake but I'll keep my collection pix on Flickr not Facebook.
This was one of my first classical purchases, bought on a whim because of the cover, but I had no idea about Géza Anda back then. I got the LP in a pretty special music store owned by two 90-year old ladies; the store had been opened in 1919 and still was pretty much stuck in the ‘60s—they had those listening booths and period furniture. I was under the impression that this LP had been there since then and they were still selling old stock. Early this year, I found out that the store had been burned down by hooligans on New Year’s, who had fired firework into it. All the vinyl went up in flames along with their musical instruments.
