I'm in, even though I already have some of these tracks. This stuff is great. I have also visited South America 5 times so I have a soft spot for this.

The same company Rockbeat put out the Surf Age Nuggets, a 4 cd box set last year that was a companion piece to the Rhino Cowabunga box set which is also excellent if you like old school instrumental surf music.

I probably only have Los Mockers (The Uruguay Rolling Stones) and Los Yorks tracks.
Surprised it doesn't have any Los Shakers (The Uruguay Beatles)....but I have a lot of their stuff already.

If you are interested in this piece, you might also like the 2 volumes of Back To Peru on the Vampisoul label. They both are excellent compilations of sixties and seventies surf, garage and psychedelic music from Peru and some of the same groups also appear on Los Nuggetz.

The Sons of Yma is also a pretty cool Peruvian surf/garage/psychedelic compilation as well.

 

I was in Peru a couple of years ago and picked up a couple of Los Shains cds. I found about them by picking up Teenage Shutdown Vol 1

 

That Surf Age Nuggets was an outstanding box set.
I have already put in an advance order for Los Nuggetz.
Being a 60s garage/psych fanatic.....this is something I can really sink my ears into!

 

Traffic Sound and Los Yorks are also great bands from Peru.

I just finished disc 1......love it.

It's great hearing 60s standards sung in Spanish. The soda commercial at the end is cute too.

 

Too bad they couldn't include anything by Los Saicos and didn't include anything by the St. Thomas Pepper Smelter and La Revolucion De Emiliano Zapata. Ladies W.C. is also really good.

 

That cover art is beyond chintzy but this seems like a cool comp.

 

There are many cover tunes but if you like the second Nuggets box, you will probably like it. I would have included more bands from South America and less from Spain if I was compiling it.

 

I finally got around to picking this up yesterday. Good god, it's fantastic. An absolutely worthy addition to the "Nuggets" canon, even if it's not technically part of that brand. Absolutely excellent stuff.
