I think I remember seeing the film on UK TV in December '68.......Did I?
If I saw the film in the UK , when did you all across the rest of the world watch it for the first time ....?

Bought a shady grey market DVD circa 2005, not the best quality and the film was baffling on first view. But I grew to like it, and upgraded to the deluxe box set

A poor quality bootleg VHS, rented from Blockbuster in the late 80's!

I saw it at a place called The Uniondale Mini Cinema around 1973 or so...the place specialized in off-beat films and music films, midnight/all nighters and the like. I don't remember the quality of the print but I do recall being dumbfounded by the whole thing at the time. of course, the walrus segment was the standout. In the mid-80's I bought the Apple sanctioned VHS which was the best i'd seen it looking to date (I'd also seen it at Beatle fests in the interim)...and now I have the deluxe bluray edition which has it looking and sounding better than ever. I don't know when you saw it but it's first showing in the U.K. was in December '67 on Boxing day and it was shown in black and white.

I asked for, and received, the DVD a few years ago for Christmas. Big mistake! :D Appalling.

I first saw it when it was released on VHS in the late 80s. It was disappointing, but I kind of expected that going in. The music sections were good.

I first saw it, I think, in '79 or '80. I was a teenager and for whatever reason, my mom wanted to visit the library a couple towns over from where we lived. I went along and they had films that they lent out and you could rent a projector for $1 a day. Magical Mystery Tour was among the selections and was available. This was on a Saturday. The library was closed on Sunday and Monday was a holiday so for the one dollar, we had it for 3 days. We projected it onto the white concrete wall of our basement.

I think it was the Mini for me too, but later, circa 1978. I don’t remember exactly. Those viewings could get a little “hazy”.

Same here. A friend and I borrowed a projector from the local library and borrowed MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR and a wonderful little film called BRAVERMAN'S CONDENSED CREAM OF BEATLES. It had fragments of group and solo video clips. So cool for (circa) 1978.

The Tiffany Theater on the Sunset Strip in the late 1970s. They had a Beatles week, they showed AHDN, HELP!, YELLOW SUBMARINE and LET IT BE and squeezed in there was a 16mm color print of MMT. I thought it stunk!

I went to a Beatles convention in '74 and they played the movie there.

So you can see how bad it stinks in high definition?

I think I saw it on MTV in the late 80s, but I only recall seeing "Blue Jay Way" and the spaghetti scene.

Bought the deluxe box some years ago.

It was an all-day Beatles film fest at
the Reseda Theater on Sherman Way in 1978-79
(The one in the movie Boogie Nights.)
with AHDN, Help!, Yellow Submarine and Let It Be
also on the bill. Me and my sis went and stayed the whole day.
I thought MMT was one of the weirdest things I have ever seen.

I got a bootleg DVD years ago. Film is bad. Music is great. I can take it in small doses.
I'm sure it clearly stinks in High Definition.

First time I saw it was on a VHS that I borrowed from our local library many years ago. I believe the video tape was an authorized release.
Was just waiting till the music came up, the rest of the film is a disaster unfortunately. I have the DVD/BluRay deluxe box now though.^^

That is what I recall as well. After Channel 44 went Spanish, WPWR-Channel 60 (which later moved to Channel 50) picked up a lot of the same movies and it also ran there IINM. By 1985 a remastered version (on video) was shown on WGN-Channel 9 on 12/8/1985.

I wonder now if the Channel 44/Channel 60 broadcasts were legal showings. It seems like both MMT and Shea Stadium were treated as "public domain" back then, whether they really were or not. Weren't both released on Beta and VHS quite early in the game?
