Will there be a new dermatology commercial to go with it?

And, he went to my high school, so there ;-)

That said, I've resigned myself to the new pop-oriented influx of Super Bowl halftime shows. Classic rock had a good run, and aside from AC/DC or GNR, I can't think of many bands that fit the bill that haven't already taken the stage during America's Great Time Out. Considering that I'm always skeptical about what is actually live during these performances, I'd rather leave it in the hands of the experts.

For what it's worth, Maroon 5 headlined one night at BottleRock a couple of years ago, and they can certainly play to a big audience. Gotta give them credit for that.

Though I'm not a fan, I'd rather see R.E.M. get together for 15 minutes.

  11. Only really enjoyed their first album. Adam Levine kind of annoys me now.

Chris Stapleton would be a good choice. I know he can rock out and he's actually GOOD.
I think he fits in more with NFL fans.

I never watch halftime , too busy using the can and refilling on food and drink. Plus Maroon 5 is boring formulaic record company fodder.

Yup. Safe, non-controversial pop music that young females like with a whiny Adam Levine wanting to love Somebody while moving like Jagger.

I agree, but do you really expect the NFL to go there? Childish Gambino? Really?

I really like Janelle Monae's latest album. It's like a modern "White Album" or "Around The World In A Day".

Maybe Maroon 5 will shock us and take a knee at the end.

    Bring back marching bands!
The halftime show as it stands is really rather dull. Do something bold! If done right, it might make being in the high school marching band cool!

I'll only watch if Triumph The Comic Dog gets to MC the halftime show and interview Maroon5 afterwords uncensored.

  19. I am surprised Queen have not done Super Bowl yet, especially since they are still out there as an active touring unit. They have done every other big event on the planet.

Ugh, Never liked them at all and I can't stand Adam Levine as a singer either. How the hell have they been a popular band for like 15 years. I honestly shouldn't be surprised since Nickleback have somehow managed to be successful in this world as well.

I've heard a few of their songs in the past......enough to know I don't like them. Not my kind of music, so it's easy enough to ignore the half time show (haven't watched it since it was either Petty or Springsteen playing in it). Their lead singer is unavoidable when the TV is on (my wife watches some of those dopey entertainment shows).......what I've seen of him leads me to believe that he may be one of the most annoying celebrities on the planet.

I'm not so sure that Journey/Steve Perry would attract younger audiences. I have younger audiences in my house and they would look at you like this if you dropped on some Journey... o_O

So, the NFL is really doubling down on the soccer mom demographic.

I just hope Adam Levine keeps his scrawny, tattooed tits to himself.

Actually, this is great. I can now spend halftime having a much needed nap (not suggesting that SuperBowl 53 will be boring - it's just that here in the UK, the live broadcast is early on a Monday morning).
