Oh no! Very sad news. On top of everything else he did, I loved him in Space: 1999. I even had the action figures and spaceship. RIP, Martin, and have a good flight.

Martin Landau is what made Mission: Impossible so enjoyable in its early years.

My favorite episodes feature him as the fake Martin Bormann ("The Legend"), when Rollin is called in – mid mission – to help take down the true baddie.

The whole thing is such a "gotcha" moment, and there is nothing the villain can do.

Another fun episode is called "The Town". Here, Rollin takes charge of the IMF after Jim is drugged by an enemy-agent doctor.

These episodes are great because they force the IMF to improvise, with Rollin the key in both instances.

Anyway, it's sad Mr. Landau has passed away...

His roles in "North By Northwest" and "Tucker" are legendary to me and the man appeared in many, many TV shows and motion pictures. They just don't make 'em like Mr. Martin Landau anymore. RIP
