Sad news, but what a positive and dignified message that is from him. I hope his painless and energetic state continues for longer than he's expecting, even though he hasn't got long.

I'm very impressed with the way he handled it there. Hope I can follow that lead when my time comes.

UK folks(men and women) have the strongest upper lip in the entire world.
I would assume much of it is having dealt with WW2 and its residual effects.
I hope I can handle my demise as well as Maartin when my time of dying arrives.
God bless any and all of you out there dealing with health issues etc.

  6. G-d bless him. I hope he has much longer than he anticipates . . .

A true gentleman..... i spoke to him very briefly many years ago at a uk folk club gig for patti vetta and alan franks. he was very polite, told me about the other projects he was working on, which included organising a uk tour for beth nielson chapman, and i thought Maart was a a class act. So sorry to hear this.

I was so saddened to hear his prognosis. It broke my heart when he left Fairport, and now it seems it's going to happen again. I admire his strength and outlook; not sure how I'd fair given those circumstances. I hope his journey is painless and that his family finds peace.

Very sad to hear/read this. I hope I can "stand up" when my time comes as Maarten has done in his post.

So sad. Much quicker than I expected, but hopefully he didn't suffer too long that way.

    RIP

I’m afraid Maartin has died. I had forgotten about this thread. I have started this one, today.

I've seen him several times at Cropredy ... his death will be a blow to that community.

Sad. I heard he didn't have long. Apparently he was @ Cropredy this year.
