I'm looking for recommendations of songs along the lines of Lady Jane and Dandelion by the Stones, Battle of Evermore by Zeppelin or Scarborough Fair by S&G, songs that have a haunting, medieval/Renaissance air to them, or that have a fairytale-ish theme. Thanks in advance.

I thinks "Alans Psychedelic Breakfast" by Pink Floyd falls into that category.Listened to it under the influence and made me feel I was looking through the stained glass windows of an English cottage in the countryside at daybreak.

"Battle of Evermore" is from '71 though.

King Crimson - "Epitaph" has that vibe to it, I think.

John Renbourn's two late 60s albums, Sir John a lot and The Lady and the Unicorn are loaded with Renaissance and medieval songs.

I'd highly recommend Keith Relf/Jim McCarty era Renaissance - and the offshoot band Illusion from the late 70s. Try this one. Their second album can be hard to track down as far as I'm aware. Both are great though.

Although this album came out in 1970, I am of the belief the "60's" ended around 1972-73

If you would accept going forward a little into the early '70s, there's Amazing Blondel's medieval suite Fantasia Lindum:

In terms of the fairytale theme, I think some of Marc Bolan's pre-glam Tyrannosaurus Rex stuff might fit the bill. Solo Syd Barrett, too. (Not familiar enough to make specific recommendations, but YouTube has all their stuff.)

Strangely enough, Michael Martin Murphey has a song that seems to fit. It's the lovely and mysterious "Rye By-the-Sea" from his 1973 album called Michael Murphey.

"Phantasmagoria in Two" and "Hallucinations" by Tim Buckley. His album "Goodbye and Hello" has other songs that you might enjoy. This guy was a genius.

I've always loved folk medieval style songs. This thread is going to be fun for me.
