Arthur Brown's Kingdom Come - Journey Passport RPS-98003 Δ18925-X 1974 I got this from a guy on the East Coast. I rarely get Monarchs from that part of the country. Lucked out!
Danny O'Keefe - The Seattle Tapes First American 7700 Side 1: Δ17760 Side 2: Δ20442 So side A was mastered in early 1973, Side B in early 1976, and the copyright date on the sleeve puts the eventual release around 1977. Must have been some legal hangups around this one.
Here's another Monarch without a job number. Here is a list of them. All have had 'MR' stamped in reverse: Dee Dee Sharp, All the Hits Volume 2 (1963, Cameo, C-1032) Judy Collins, In My Life (1966, Elektra, EKL-320) Dionne Warwick, Here, Where There Is Love (1966, Scepter Records, SPS 555) John Mayall, A Hard Road (1967, London, PS 502)
Well, I don't know if this will be news, but I do have a copy of A Question of Balance pressed at Monarch. Label matrix - XZAL 10009PM, XZAL 10010PM Runout matrix - XZAL 10009P, XZAL 10010P, with MR in circle Delta number - 15140, 15140-X
Chet Baker on Pacific Jazz -- # 3269 is definitely Rusty Warren in the LP sequence, but you could be right about the -12 having been added for an LP. NOW…in the 45 sequence that would mean late February or early March, 1955. We know that PJ-1201 and PJ-1203 were out by April (because they are in Billboard), so March could be right. The LP sequence probably did not begin until 1956. Interesting! I don’t have a record for “Alone Together” and didn’t see it on here. Did I miss it? I agree about TRS 53000 (Eres Tu). The timeline fits, and at least one of their labels does look like it could be from a Monarch pressing.
Danny O’Keefe – The album came out at the end of 1977 or start of 1978. The new label announced itself in December. It consists of reissued material from his Cotillion and Signpost records. Jimmy Reed – The album came out originally in May, 1958, but the Monarch pressing is from 1960. If you’re out for an original pressing, it would have come out before Vee Jay was using Monarch. If the LP came out late enough in 1958 that one factory was using the "trade mark" label, this could be a first pressing: JIMMY REED - I'm Jimmy Reed LP (RARE US MONO Pressing on "maroon" VEE-JAY) | eBay Otherwise, this is an RCA original: I'm Jimmy Reed, Vee-Jay Records VJLP 1004, 1961, Harmonica Blues | eBay Monarch definitely wasn't original -- despite the label. A Question of Balance fits perfectly. The LP review is from September 12, 1970.
