Where are the EU copies presses from? Can anyone tell from the dead wax area? Like any P-Pallas stamper besides the matrix numbers?

I wouldn’t say I have a “great” system, it does satisfy my demands though.

Regardless of EU or US, and I’m spinning the album as I write, it is certainly not even close to muffled or boring [to death]. I’ll certainly be playing this with an ear to the track differences some time soon.

    Dead Wax details:

R1-1835-A 3 [very feint, B964314-01 A] The initials are not SH and look like this, KNG EATn

R1-1835-BRe [very feint, B964314-01 B] Again,, not too clear, LRLf SH CA7u

May I ask if you have compared it to any other release?

I mean it may not sound boring at all if one has no previous experience with this LP, but on a comparison basis it surely is (my EU copy of course).

I did own an early pressing but really wore that out over years. The second copy I still have and also a CD copy. Probably have flac copies on a drive too.

Sorry, it really does not sound muffled or boring.

I also put this album up on a system that had a retail value of approx. £25,000*. Nope, neither muffled or boring. In fact it drew attention from a none vinyl music lover in the demo room. He was more than a little surprised to see vinyl spinning when he entered the room.

Probably as familiar with this album as I am with any LP I own having been listening to it from close to release date.

Well at least they informed you about the metal parts being supplied overseas, more information than is generally forthcoming.

EU and US pressings can and do differ of the same title. Differences vary, in some instances we get an album presented as the same [bar say the vinyl weight] but have different content let alone mastering!!! This is the sort of ambiguity that needs removing from the industry, it does amount to miss selling and certainly annoys the customer no end.
BTW Steve, Monterey article completed. Thank you for your help.

Anyway, regard OP and recent posts, I'll now use the better light to inspect the Moondance album.

Spine states: Manufactured in the EU as does the inner. Green WB label with Made in the EU
Dead Wax, all hand etched details:
    KG@AT[NorM] R1-1835-A3 B964374-07 A 17921.1(3)...
    LM/SH@A7[U R1-1835-[UNKNOWN]12e B964314-01 B1 17903.2(3)

Some of the 1's could be 7's and VV tho' there is enough here to satisfy I think.
Just how do these details match or otherwise the US issue?

I checked thoroughly and confirm that my EU copy has exactly the same DW details as yours.

Please can we have some DW details from a US copy?

My US copy that I bought from Amazon last year has this deadwax. BTW, the quote/apostrophe is my adding based on how I designate mastering engineer info in my Excel file. Those aren't on the original deadwax. Mine is the Rhino version pressed at RTI. It looks like Steve only mastered side one of my copy. Did he master both sides with Kevin? The RTI plate numbers are in sequence. I have a feeling this is either the original pressing or a very early repress of the Rhino edition.

    A: R1-1835 A 'KRG&SH CATM' 14583.1(3)..

    B: R1-1835 B 'KRG CATM' 14583.2(3)..

This is the dead wax info from the US release I bought shortly after it came out:
    • Barcode: 0 81227 99070 1
    • Matrix / Runout (Side 1): R1-1835 A XXXXXXXXXX KPG&SH@ATM 14583.1(3)
    • Matrix / Runout (Side 2): R1-1835 B XXXXXXXXXX KPG@ATM 14583.2(3)
    Matches this Discogs listing: http://www.discogs.com/Van-Morrison-Moondance/release/2354221

The XXXXXXXX is machine stamped over hand written numbers. Maybe because SH said the first set of lacquers was damaged at RTI?

    Thanks fella's.
Interesting indeed. Clear differences to my copy but I'm still unsure if SH/KG are attributed to the EU copy!

RiRilll, played my copy a couple of times this week and it is NOT as you hear yours.
I have my copy on a Michell Gyro, upgrade arm with Ortofon 2M Black, an old Naim intergrated and Harbeths. I have heard this on much better gear and still it does not conform in any way to how your copy sounds it seems.

Noted, but please make a try to compare it at least with the new 2013. It would be interesting. Thanks!
